Has anyone been in the Disney Store in Dartmouth lately? I was in yesterday and it is practically empty. If it wasn't for Camp Rock stuff, the shelves would be bare. Is the store going out of business or something?:confused3

I was there on Thanksgiving weekend and it was like that then. It was really pathetic.

We were there yesterday as well. We looked at each other and first thing we said was..."They must be closing the store!!". It's usually so crammed in there you can barely get by the displays. The whole back was empty!!

We'll be sad if it does close. Used to get great deals on Disney shirts for DH and DD there.

Oh no! I hope they don't close! With the Moncton Store closed, and nothing on the Island, that would mean I'd have NO Disney Store when I needed a Disney Fix! Of course, with the driving, the bridge and the shopping, it was a rather expensive fix, but a fix nonetheless! :lmao: And then it's a 3.5 hour drive, so to go to the DS it's 7 hours roundtrip.

I noticed it has been looking rather sparse for the quite a while now. I used to shop there all the time, but I found the sales were not as great as it used to be and the selection seems a lot less. Hopefully, they will get better in the new year.

Rumor has it that more stores may be closing. I asked for a DS GC for Xmas from my Mom and when she did some research she told me that she would give me cash not a GC because the DS is on a list as well as many other stores that will be shutting there doors or down sizing drastically.
I will be really sad if this is true:sad1:
I wish I had the link but I do not.

The email that is circulating with the so-called store closures is not entirely accurate... it contains a LOT of dated information. See here for particulars: http://www.snopes.com/politics/business/storeclosings.asp

In terms of the Disney Stores, CM's here in Ottawa had "heard" some additional stores are going to be restructured or closed. Which ones, I don't know - but it sounds like the shelves being almost empty is a good indicator. That, or they are going to get a massive stock hit. :confused3

I walked by today and it appeared to be very empty, with very few customers inside when the rest of the mall was insane!

I was in today and over heard the store clerk saying they were expecting new stock but not sure of what exactly.:confused3

We were there yesterday and thought the same thing!
There was a 15% AP discount available so I wanted to see what I could pick up for our upcoming trip. There wasn't much to choose from. :confused3

Similar experience over here in BC. I went to the Metrotown store yesterday, which is the only store in BC now I think, and was sorely disappointed. If you didn't need super large sizes or teeny tiny sizes there was nothing, selection and styles were very very limited and 70-80% of the stock was High School musical stuff.

One of the cms told me that there are problems with the supply chain since being taken back by Disney and they wouldn't be getting much more or different stock until the new year. It's not from a bus driver but take it for what it's worth.:thumbsup2

That would explain it.

I also heard this from a trusted CM at the DS I frequent in the Toronto area.
I hope the new stuff arrives soon as the stuff they have left is nothing that I would like.:sad2:

Made the drive into Ottawa today, and the Bayshore Mall store was pretty much empty. Nothing in the sizes I needed for the kiddos for Christmas - not even the good ol' sock and underware. In fact, the store was VOID of customers, while the rest of the mall was hopping.

What's rather funny... as we were leaving, a package arrived from Disney Parks. The staff rushes over to open it, and surprise... it's full of tickets. While most are happy to have them back in stock - one of the employees points out "it would have been nicer to have some merchandise".
