Anyone know where I can find the best deal for a 3 night trip to Las Vegas flying out of Halifax NS.
Or any advice on where to stay/what to see.

Kids or no kids? If you're taking kids, I'm not sure why you wouldn't do Disney (or something) instead. Flights are going to be pricey from the Maritimes and hotels are more expensive than Orlando or Anaheim as well. Vegas IS NOT a budget destination.

We went in January on a SunWing charter and actually got a pretty good deal staying out in Primm Valley (20 miles south of Vegas). It's a little resort with 3 hotels; we stayed at Buffalo Bill's which has it's own small amusement park with a wicked rollercoaster that thunders through the building. We actually were very glad we were out there instead of on the Strip, which had a very (IMO) nasty vibe.

Lots of things to do, but it depends on who you're taking and what you like. Make no mistake - gambling, drinking and headliner shows are the main focus. It is Vegas, after all.

If I can clarify anything specific, please just ask.

Annette

We went last October and had a blast. Right now a lot of the hotels in Vegas are offering great discounts. I signed up for email notifications for discounts from a number of hotels on the strip. Some of the rooms at the MGM Grand are going for $59 a night. Try signing up on some of the hotel sites for their discounts. We stayed at the Bellagio and loved it, they also come out with some good specials.

We did a helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon and also did a tour of Hoover Dam. There is so much to see at all the hotels as each has a theme on the strip. Just be prepared to walk and walk.

you can do the bulk of your research here: lasvegas.com

We went 7 years ago and stayed at the m onte carlo. If you want the touristy vegas trip then stay on the strip.

Best deals are for Sunday to Thursday.
There are lots of good deals out--just check out the hotel sites for their promotions!
There are great deals on Cirque shows as well right now..buy one ticket and get the second for 25.00 bucks!!!
Some of the other shows have discounts as well.
We were going to go for 3 nights and discovered our package thru Westjet was going to cost the exact same amount for 4 nights..so of course we booked the 4!

p.s
There is a Vegas Forum now on the dis..just scroll thru the drop down menu of forums!

Stay in the hotels at the center of the strip (Caesars, Bally's, Treasure Island, Bellagio, Paris, Venetian, Wynn). My personal fave is Venetian. Sign up for the newsletters for any of those hotels. They sometimes send out special deals that drastically reduce hotel rates plus give away dining credits. Last trip, we stayed at the Signature at MGM. The hotel condo was amazing and deluxe. (The only hotel I didn't think much of was the Luxor -- we walked around the Luxor and just found it old, weary and cheesy.)

Love Vegas -- great shows, good gambling, deluxe hotels, and plenty of amazing food!!! Have a great trip!

I am also going to Vegas next month for my anniversary. I am very excited because we will be seeing the Lion King Broadway show while there. I have never seen a Disney Broadway show and know that I will be speechless. Lion King is far and away my favorite Disney movie.
I agree that there are deals. We will be staying at the Venetian in a room that here in Houston would go for 4 x's as much! I could not believe how inexpensive it was. Also, I was able to grab a Ding from SW Airlines. The Ding is what prompted us to go.
I am a detail person and look forward to just visiting all the hotels. They seem absolutely gorgeous and just as well themed as any at Disney.
I am a recovering alcoholic and have no desire to gamble, so the usual is out for us. However, it does not seem that we will lack for things to do.
OP- when will you be in Vegas?

Sorry... forgot the following:
Here is a list of things I have been told are fun to do:

Mirage:
Siegfried and Roy's Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat
11 a.m.- 7 p.m. $15
Volcano: nightly 8-12 every hour on the hour

MGM Grand:
Lion Habitat: 11-7 daily. Free.

Caesar's Palace:
Forum Shops and twisty escalators

Circus Circus:
Theme park: $25

Go to the old strip and see the lights

I am eager to see if anyone here can add to this list.

The Bellagio water show. It's free and fun to watch.

Lucky you!!! Great choice! :thumbsup2 You will be in the heart of it all on the strip. The Cafe Luxe in the Venetian is a great place to eat too. And Oct. is a great time to go. Not as hot. I remember being there last year in May and it was record highs in heat and humidity. I can only assume the summer months are none too pleasant.

BTW, go to www.travelzoo.com to check on special discounted ticket prices for Las Vegas shows. The discount list changes every week. (I LOVE going to Travelzoo to check concert/show listings; I once got $20 tickets to see New Kids on the Block, with special guests Lady Gaga and Natasha Bedingfield, and THEN got upgraded to $90 seats.)

My sister and I went at the end of Jan 2008 for 3 nights. We do not party and had a great time :)

Stayed on the strip at the Flamingo, I would recommend :thumbsup2 The Imperial was next door and I would avoid that one for sure!!

The monorail stopped here and got us everywhere we wanted to go. We took it to the furthest point and walked from there to other places we wanted to see.

We did:

Anthony Cools @ The Paris Las Vegas

The Price Is Right @ Ballys

Lets Make a Deal @

Menopause The Musical @ Luxor

Mama Mia @

Ive realized I dont like musicals and production shows :rotfl2:

I recommend Anthony Cools, the game shows, and if I was to go again I would do a few tours in and out of Vegas. Maybe see a headliner show, comedy, magic.

Stay at a hotel on the monorail the Flamingo ( a classic), The Paris.

Off the monorail would be the Venetian

Go to vegas.com tons of helpful info. This is the same company that is used in many hotels there.

Any questions let me know
