Hi, everyone. Just wanted to let you know our first IEP meeting for DS (enters Kindergarten this fall) went very well. He will be in a regular, mainstream classroom. He qualified for everything we wanted. He will get Speech Therapy 2x per week (pulled out), OT 2x per week (one in class, one pull-out), and PT 2x per month (likely on the playground during recess). Also, he qualified for a Parapro Aide to come into his Kindergarten Classroom 2 times per DAY to help him in class with his work. No resource classroom teaching is anticipated as he's bright. Main focus is fine motor, speech/language delays, and behavior (focus, staying on task, transitions, anxiety). They will also evaluate him after Christmas for a laptop as DS can't write due to the Cerebral Palsy. We are very pleased and can't believe he qualified for the Parapro Aide! It is quite a relief to have the meeting finalized and go so well. Everyone attending couldn't have been nicer.
As far as his Fundo/Reflux/Losing Weight, DS will have an Upper GI and abdominal ultrasound this Thursday. The surgeon believes the Esophageal Diverticula that was found during the Endoscopy is the culprit. He also want to check for a Para-Esophageal Hernia. If it is either of those problems, DS will likely need surgery to correct it. Thanks for keeping us in your prayers.
