OT how to celabrate a birthday

I am going to move your thread over to our Community board
you may get more answers and a wider variety of ideas there.:)

Send a balloon bouquet to heaven. My girls do that every year for their Grandma, and Poppy.
How sweet and what a great idea.

I can only tell you what I do: I think about the person throughout the day and remember the happy times. Sometimes I will go to their favorite restaurant or a place that had meaning to the both of us.

On my dads birthday this year , (his 1st in heaven) I baked a cake and we sang his favorite songs. :sad2: The kids enjoyed it and I know he was up there singing along.

This one is a little bit odd. My great-grandmother was quite the saucy lady. For my bridal shower she gave me some fluffy handcuffs just to give you an idea. My gramsy, mom, and I go to a "ladies club" involving men in little bow ties. We put her picture next to us and give her a toast for living without regrets.

I know not sentimental but she was not the sentimental type.

I lost a child and whenever I am feeling really down about missing him I head to Disneyland where we had our happest moments. Or I order a pizza or cook popcorn them dump it on the floor and stomp on it. Anything that reminds me of some good times with my DS. The anniversary of his death is coming up 13 years and I am scheduled to be at a family reunion that i would rather not go to especially on that day. I will probsbly keep my kids close and bring pizza to it. On birthdays alot of time my dh and I go out of town or my mom and I privately grieve. I have done the baloon boquet before. I never have once visited his grave, that is just too much for me to even contemplate. I know some people get great comfort out of that, but it would deeply disturb me and I assume my DH feels the same as he has never visited.

I think just whatever comforts you the most is what you should do.

well I spent the day thinking about my friends dad. I know that sounds weird however keep in mind that I have known him sens birth practically

We are really lucky to live on the shores of Lake Erie. Well, half a mile away. I love to sit at the park looking out at the lake and think. I use this time to meditate and think about important things, especially those who have passed.
