I admit, I have already started Christmas shopping! :thumbsup2 I have some gifts picked out and some on a mental list. What do you think will be the hot items for 2008? I have a couple ideas, but I was also shocked at some of the items listed in a recent newspaper article. One specifically was Elmo Live...haven't they went far enough with Elmo?! :confused3 (My opinion could be getting in the way there; I HATE Elmo. He is so annoying!) Last year there were millions of the latest version still on the shelves after Christmas. One thing that I am banking on and will be out at 4am on black friday chasing after is Spike the dinosaur. He is so cool I want him! :lmao: So what is on your list?

For our shopping this year the hot thing will be CASH!!!! My kids are getting older & they are picky...can you imagine!!!! And all the adults would just rather have it then a gift that they don't need.

My son is getting the Tag reading system (Leap Frog) and the Imaginext pirate ship. I don't anticipate them being really "HOT" toys this year, but for financial reasons I will probably pick them up over the next month once we get back from vacation.

As soon as I saw that dinosaur (spike???) i said to my DH that was going to be the big toy this christmas. It is so cool, I wish my son was old enough for it (he's 2 1/2).

Spike is going to be it I think- Just based on the prices I am seeing now- It ranges from $130-$185!! So people are already charging quite a bit over retail. Looks like I better get on that one. I am thinking of getting it for my 5 year old for his birthday-(or my 3 year old for Christmas) They'll be sure to fight over it whoever gets it.:rotfl2:

Other than that one I can't come up with anything besides Wii Fit.
Next year I think it will be the new nintendo ds thing

We are getting something from the imaginex line too. I think we are going to get DS the Bat cave. :)

Hmm... I'm seriously out of the loop. I've never even heard of spike. I guess I'll have to look it up.

My kids are really unaware of what the "hot" items are and so are DH & I. My MIL works in retail and always gets them exciting presents. She's also into fashion and takes oldest DD shopping for clothes when she visits.

OP: I hate Elmo too. My DD (almost 10) still has a creepy fear of him. When she was about 18mos she got an elmo that you positioned and he moved and acted like he was different things (superhero, racecar driver, etc). DD hated it and I thought we had gotten rid of it. When she was about 4 we heard this horrible screaming from upstairs and we thought she was seriously injured. We ran to hear "Elmo's a big, scary monster. Rawr". She had dumped out her stuffed toys and stepped on it in the dark coming back from the bathroom. It went directly into the trash. Elmo is still not allowed in this house.

I'm just trying to get through birthdays. We get hit hard in October! My DD5 will be getting her first Webkinz, a Disney Princess game for her Leapster, and a new Bible and tote (she's been lamenting how her Toddler Bible isn't cutting it anymore. :rotfl: ) We're hauling it all with us, since we'll be in Florida for her Bday. I have no clue about Christmas. I've never heard of that Spike thing. That'd be the entire budget on one toy, so we'll probably take a pass! I try to keep our holiday expenditures down to $150/kid. If we could, I'd spend more, but we just don't have loads of money to spend on more toys. :crazy2: Where do people put it all? My kids can't keep the toys they have put away, lol

Anything and everything Hannah Montana for the 6-10 yr-old set! LOL My ds is 5 and he wants anything and everything: Speedracer, Transformers and Star Wars.

Haven't heard of or seen anything that is 'the' thing this year.

I spoke too soon. Just talked to my mom and she said that she was getting that for him for xmas. She hadn't bought it yet so I offered to run over to Target and pick it up for her. So I guess he IS getting Spike for Christmas from Grandmom.

My mom has a history of wanting to buy the hot toys and then making me run all over the place to find it. Oh, and there was only one left at Target today.

Hmm, spike is alright. I had to google him...

DD wants Kits Tree house, she saw it in the catalog last night. We will see, I am not willing to fork over $250 yet for it.

My daughter wants Kit's treehouse too. Not going to happen
I just looked up spike but I don't think my ds would be into it. He loves speed racer, star wars, transformers, and kung fu panda. My dd will just be getting some more American girl items and probably barbie. I don't know she changes her mind as christmas gets closer so this year I'm actually trying to wait so we don't overbuy.
