Can anyone recommend a descent hotel near Hersheypark? I don't want to spend a fortune as we will only be there to sleep for 1 night. Just needs to be clean and close to Hershey.

Thanks!

I'd love a good rec. too! Last year I went to Hershey and stayed at the Hershey Lodge with my cousin and her son. Honestly, for the money (and she got a two rooms for the price of one deal) it was not worth it. We were there for just one night.

A friend of mine stayed last year at a Country Inn and Suites somewhere near Harrisburg and she liked it. I've checked tripadvisor for Hershey and Harrisburg hotels -- the Harrisburg hotels are less expensive and many are offering good deals for the summer.

Anxious to hear hotel rec's from DISers!

I went to Hershey in December and stayed at the Days Inn - Hershey. The room was clean, they had a free breakfast (cereal, waffles, oatmeal, etc.), and the location was good. They had transportation to take you to Hershey Park if you needed/wanted, and an indoor pool.
Hope that helps a bit.

There is a Hampton Inn on E. Chocolate Ave that we stayed at a few years ago. Very clean and free breakfast! It's only a short drive to the park (maybe 5-10 minutes).

We also stayed at a Comfort Inn that wasn't bad either.

We just book a room for one night at the Main Stay in Grantville PA. It's 6 miles to Hershey. If I remember correctly I got it for 149.99,. It has an indoor pool with a little slide, plus an indoor putt putt course and a small place to shoot some hoops which hubby will just love..

There is a Hampton Inn on Chocolate Ave. we always stay at, nice rooms, free breakfast and pet friendly (we usually take our dog when we go).

I just stayed there Tuesday to Weds night. It's 10mins tops to the park. Paid $115 and compared to some of the surrounding hotel rates I thought it was a pretty good deal. Breakfast was included and was actually pretty descent. Here's the link

This is where we stay. It is right down from the real chocolate factory and it takes only 5 mintues to get to the park. As Hampton Inns go, it is not cheap but it a nice one. We usually use our hilton point.

DH and I are staying at the Howard Johnson on E. Chocolate Ave. I've never been there but the room was about $110 and also has a good star rating. I agree with a PP, the Hershey Lodge is not worth the extra money.

I just stayed at the Fairfield Inn Harrisburg/Hershey. It was very nice and the people at the front desk were possibly the nicest people at any hotel I have ever stayed at. There is also a Holiday Inn Express across the street that looks really nice and a little bit cheaper. I would say it took us about 20 minutes to get to Hershey Park in traffic. It would probably only take 10 minutes at less busy times. There was also an indoor pool and they offered specials that included Hershey Tickets but they are only a good deal if you are planning on going 1 day/staying 1 night.

If you want to go super discount there is the Red Roof Inn Harrisburg-Hershey. This hotel is strictly a place to sleep, but not a bad. You can get rooms in the $60 range.

As a resident of Hershey, I would stress strongly not staying at the Econo Lodge or Red Roof Inn. Hershey is an extremely clean and safe town, but those two motels are known for being shady, especially the Red Roof Inn. There are plenty of good, affordable options that people have already mentioned.

The Days Inn, Hampton Inn, and most of the hotels out on Route 39 are all good bets.

Good luck with your trip!

The hampton Inn

the comfort inn

the holiday inn express

hilton garden inn

are all very nice places, clean nice pool...

We stayed at the Super8 Hershey. It was great, the rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff and manager were very nice and friendly. The night manager let the kids swim an hour after the pool was supposed to close. Would stay there again. It was about 10 mins from park, and you had to go right by Giant (discounted ticket stop).
