Totally Off Topic.....

For the Zeta trip, since the whole family is going (me, DH, and DS6), we have decided to stay at a Value Resort. It will be soon after the Holidays, and I don't know if we will be in our room more than just to sleep. We stayed at the All Star Sports this June and LOVED it! Now, we have to choose a resort for February.....so, please help!!! Please tell me which resort you would choose and why. We're not really picky, so there isn't any one hotel we would dislike (well, maybe music if they put us in country  ). Is any hotel better in February than the others??

TIA :grouphug:

EDIT: Just wanted to add that I posted this here because this is a VMK trip, so I figured I would ask those people whose opinions really count :rotfl:

For a Value Resort, you can't go wrong with All Star Music. I recommend this because they have an Ariel statue right at the pool near Broadway. It's so beautiful.

BG you really are fixated on the princesses aren't you? ;)

sorry forgot to answer your question, we have only stayed at ASMovies and I liked it but the rooms were small. Never stayed at POP are the rooms bigger. It is the newer resort.

I wish I could offer some advice, Tishke, but I'm afraid the only value resort we've had any experience with is the All-Star Music. I don't know how it compares to the others, but we liked it quite a bit. It had good atmosphere and we were comfortable. We stayed in Jazz, I believe. We were close to the bus stop and parking. Good luck :sunny:

My friend and I stayed and POP and really enjoyed it. :) We were supposed to stay at the All-Star Music but got the boot (yes, this was well before VMK came out) because they didn't have any non-smoking rooms left. Yeah, that sure was special. LOL! That's ok, at POP, we got a non-smoking room, facing away from the pool and overlooking the lake. We got one of the farthest rooms out in the 80s section - perfect for two kids born in the 80s! :) Woot woot! :)

We are going to stay at Pop Centrury this February just like we did on the last two trips down (7/04 & 2/05). Other than the fact that I am partial to Pop, I think it has a lower tax rate than other value resorts (not that it makes that big of a difference). A good friend of mine stayed at AsMo last time she was there and said that she preferred Pop because the buildings seemed like they were closer to the dining/shop/buses. I think all the value resorts are about the same as far as room space goes.

Okay, so after thinking about it some more, here are some other concerns:

In June, the parks and resorts were packed...NOT a big deal, but how is the bus service to and from the hotels. We loved that Sports was first picked up and first dropped off. I am scared to think what peak time in February is like getting a bus after Wishes :earseek:

Is Pop set up like the All Stars? Meaning, we never had a far walk to anything, and we stayed in the Home Run Building. (supposedly sooo far from the main building)

Is anyone else from the Zeta trip going to stay at a Value??

The wait and distance to the buses at the Pop resort is not bad, but the wait and distance for a bus from the parks back was HORRIBLE. We usually just take our car to the parks since parking is free, and we like to have our car available in case we have a problem and need to leave on our schedule.

As you can see, the overwhelming response is for Pop Century. I've been
consistently using Pop for my pre-DVC and post-DVC weekends (to save
those points!) since Pop opened. (I'm doing it for my upcoming trip, too.)

I haven't stayed at the All Stars for a while, now. I don't know if they have
stantions queuing the bus stops or not. That's a feature I love about Pop
Century. With the dedicated queue, nobody is rushing up to push and shove
onto the busses. It also doesn't hurt that they have only one bus stop.
The only other resort that doesn't share stops with other resorts: AKL.
All the other resorts either share stops with other resorts or have multiple
stops within the same resort.

As for the theme park bus stops being well, practically in Kissimmee....
It's sorta true. I can't remember which park it was, but the Pop Century
bus stop wasn't in the boonies, and it surprised me. The stops are set up
so differently, I can't remember which park had a relatively close stop for
Pop.

For me, it didn't matter much. I thought that the building layouts were set
up differently, closer to the All Star Movies model, rather than the stretched
out layouts of Sports or Music. (If I had to pick an All Star, it'd be Movies.)

I've stayed all over the 70s buildings, and I enjoy it there very much.
I don't think it's worth paying more a night to stay in the 60s buildings.

*sigh* I hate being a grown up who has to make decisions like this. I would just as soon ask DS where he wants to stay, but since it is a surprise trip, that wouldn't be the smartest way to do it

If more than one Zeta person is going to be there during the same time, would they be able to place us near each other?

Okay, as scared as it makes me.....we are trying a new hotel and going with POP! I think we will wind up bringing the car in the morning (I get to the parks early enough to park within three rows back LOL) and leave it there until we leave at night. LOL I am scared, but excited! Thanks for the feedback guys!!
