Just wondering has anyone done NovaSure? I am thinking about doing it. Are you happy with your decision, have you had any side effects?
Thanks for your input.

Are you talking about the endometrial ablation (don't know if i spelled that right)
but anyway if so, i had that done at the end of Jan. this year. Did not work, actuall, cramps are worst and bleeding is worst then before. now i am having to do the hysterectomy. works for some , but not on everyone, i wish you luck if you decide to do it, i was hoping it would help me, but it really didn't.

Yes, it is endometrial ablation treatment. Thanks for your reply. That is too bad it did not work for you.

I'm so sorry that the pp had such a negative outcome from the Novasure. I had the complete opposite result. I had the Novasure, a hysteroscopy (sp?) and D&C all done at the same time, and was under general anesthesia for the whole thing. When I woke up, I honestly didn't believe anything had been done as I felt nothing - no cramps or anything. The rest of the day was fine - no pain at all - and all the symptoms that led to the surgery disappeared. This was back in April and I haven't had even the first problem since then.

If you are thinking about getting this done, make sure your doc does the Novasure, rather than any other ablation. I think the Novasure is a remarkable improvement over the older ablation procedures.

If you want any further or more detailed info, feel free to PM me.

I had this done back in March. I opted to do the procedure in the office vs. under general anesthesia. I was prepared for some cramping, etc. (I am an OB nurse). The procedure was horrible. I made it through but had to rely on my "labor breathing" to get me through it. After it was done I told my MD that I really deserved a baby out of it! On the way home I became very sick and vomitted and then continued to do so for the next 24 hours. My cramping was INTENSE!! I expected some cramping for 4-6 hours after the procedure, but mine lasted 12 hours. I think the vomitting was due to the Vicoden I took on an empty stomach. Never could keep enough food in to help with the pain meds I was taking so I'm sure that's where the vomiting came from. I ended up being down for 2 days when my MD said 4-6 hours later I should have felt fine. Months later I am glad I did it. My cycles are way better but I was really hoping for no cycles. MD says b/c I am so young (35) until my estrogen slows down, I will probably continue to have them. Darn!! Well, probably way too much information. Sorry. I'm sure you will make the right decision for yourself.

I had the Novasure ablation about 6 years ago. It was the best thing I ever did. Completely turned my life around. I had some cramps the day of surgery, and then I went camping for 4 days. My periods are very light now, as opposed to the Great Flood that kept me indoors for three days a month.

When I made the decision to do Novasure I was also offered a hysterectomy. I figured I'd try the ablation and if it didn't work out,I could always go forward with the more invasive procedure. I'm happy to report that has not been necessary:goodvibes

DO IT!!!!! Best thousand bucks I EVER SPENT!!!! I got my done in Mar 2007, under anesthesia. Dr. told me to expect cramping and bleeding for a few weeks. I cramped for a few days but he gave me really good meds for that. I had absolutely NO bleeding and still to this day NOTHING!!! Here is what the dr. did to me. We scheduled it for the week that my period was supposed to start so that the uterine lining would be thick (TMI?..lol) then he did a D&C, hysteroscopy, and endometrial ablation. I was told if you wanted it to work that a D&C had to be performed first to get all the lining out first then burn it off with the ablation. Hope it works for you!!!

Thank you so much for all of the replies. I appreciate everyone being so open. I have an appointment scheduled with my OB for the 31st. I am anxious to see what she has to say. I have been contemplating it for a while. My health insurance is going to change for next year. If I don't want to pay any money out of pocket, I need to have the procedure done before the end of the year. I like the thought of not cycling anymore. But it sounds like because of my age (34), that may not happen. Oh, well. I just feel like my cycle controls my life. It is sooooo frustrating! :headache:

I also had this done a few years ago. I was getting periods that lasted for 2 weeks and were heavy on many of the days. I was hoping to be one of the lucky ones who stopped getting a period, but now I get a very light one that last for 2-3 days. I feel so much better! I also had cramping after, but it was worth it! Oh, and I was out for the procedure!!!

I am only 32, so you might get lucky..:goodvibes

I just had this done 8/1 and I am very happy so far! I was under general anesthesia and did have a little cramping for a day or two - but they gave me meds and really it was not any worse than when I had my period. I did have some bleeding/discharge for a few weeks but nothing as bad as my period. I recently got my first period after and it was more like spotting. Now the only thing I question is why I waited so long!

I'm with everyone who LOVES this! I had it done last December at 35. Mine only lasts 2-3 days and only need minimal protection, rather than 1 an hour :scared1: Saves a lot of money on buying all the "stuff" you need every month! I was sick that night, but it was from having the meds on an empty stomach when leaving the hospital. I still get cramping and headaches, but that's what meds are for, right?!

Periods are not worse for me, but they didn't get any better and the cramps are worse. I just seen my OB/GYN a couple weeks ago and she suggested I get a hysterectomy.

She told me of all the ones she has done only 3 failed, mine included.

My former boss had it done and loved it.
