OT-Great Wolf Lodge ?

I have booked Great Wolf Lodge for ds's bday. Is it true that you can use the waterpark starting at 1pm on check-in day and stay til 10pm the next day, even after you check-out?

I've heard varying things about the food prices. What can we expect for food prices?

Do they do anything for birthdays besides the add-on packages that you can buy? Those packages didn't seem like a very good value so I didn't take them. Do you think I can get a bday dessert in the restaurnat or is it better to just bring a cake for him to have in the room?

Any other tips/tricks? We're going on a Tuesday-Wednesday.

Yes you can use the water park until close the day of check out...during the week at a non-busy time this may be before 10pm though

I've heard varying things about the food prices. What can we expect for food prices? There is Pizza Hut and a buffet restaurant onsite as well as a few snack type counters. Pizza Hut is much more expensive there than it would normally be. I can't remember the buffet prices but they are on the higher end in my opinion and the food isn't that great.

Do you think I can get a bday dessert in the restaurnat or is it better to just bring a cake for him to have in the room? They don't do anything unless you pay for it. I'd bring your own cake and do the party in your room.

If you call the Lodge, you can order a custom birthday cake right from their bakery. We got one for DH's 38th birthday when we were there last summer, and it was HUGE and absolutely divine (one of the best cakes we've ever bought). I think it was $35 and it was so big, we ended up taking a big plate of it out to the front desk staff.

They will customize it however you like (flavour, writing, etc.).

Also if you call ahead you could get one of the mascots (Wiley the Wolf or Biko the Bear) to make a personal room visit. Or maybe even deliver the cake? They had flyers advertising this service when we were there in 2009. And I *think* its free, but definitely has to be booked in advance and is based on availability.

If you're looking for better value (and better tasting) pizza than what's available at the onsite Pizza Hut Express, order from Franks Pizza instead. Awesome, delicious pizza. Really worth it!

But that said, we also liked the buffet. Pricey-ish for those over 12 (about $20 per person) but a great variety with something to please everyone. And food everywhere in Niagara Falls is pricey at best!

We just went on Sun for one night. My kids loved it. Anyway we had the deal with meals included and when we checked out they offered us to say an extra night for $100 including meals for 4 adults and 2 kids. We would have if 3 of us didn't have to work the next day. By the way the food was very yummy.

We went for my dd's birthday last year and booked their party package. It was fairly decent value for the money. 4 loot bags, tokens, decorated door, fairly large plush animal for the b-day girl. 4 mini pizza and drinks for lunch and a HUGE cake! We have a peanut allergy and they made us a massive icecream cake...kids eyes popped out of their heads! WE ate it on the deck.

Pricey package but decent value.

When we went in January (we've been there before but this was the first time I noticed it) on our reminder notice (we booked online) there was a coupon for kid's eat free at the buffet.

The food is pricey there but then it seems like all the restaurants in Niagara are a little pricer than elsewhere. We took lunch and breakfast items with us to counteract the cost. But overall, it's a great place and kids of all ages love it.
