My baby shower is being thrown on Feb 28, and I just found out the person in charge of ordering the cake (a close family member) has not done so yet, and has not even thought of a place to get it. I know it's tacky for me to have anything to do with the shower, but I'd rather not end up with a grocery store cake, so I want to be able to give some suggestions to the aforementioned cake person. :rolleyes1

I live in Pickering, which is where the shower will be held. Can anyone recommend a place to get a cute, tasty, not too expensive cake to feed 30 people? Delivery would be optimal, but pickup could be arranged anywhere from Mississauga to Oshawa.

Thank you!!

I'm not sure if you have Longo's in the east end but they have really great cakes. The best are the 'real cream' cakes. I would say they are average price. Our local Longo's will make the cake fresh the day of pick up if you are able to pick it up after approx 2pm. We used to always buy from a local bakery but we discovered that Longo's was fresher, tasty-ier and less expensive.

You mentioned Mississauga as a possible pick up point. There is Longo's in north Mississauga. You can look them up online.

Another option would be Costco. I know a lot of people that love their cakes.

I've heard good things about Costco cakes, but couldn't find anything on their website so I thought that might only be in the states. I've got a friend with a membership, I'll check them out! And I know Longos in pretty high up there in the world of grocery stores, so I'll check them out too. Thanks!

Too bad you don't live closer to me I would be glad to make it .. I do special orders and have done several showers.. have you thought of looking up cakes on Kijjii you may find someone there.

Hope you find something quick!

Thanks Mousy, that's sweet! (Where are you? Maybe I can get a out of town guest to pick it up on the way by.;) )
I'll definitely check out kijiji!

I am about 20 minutes south of Hamilton, on the Binbrook Mount Hope Border.

I hope you find someone soon. What a pain to have to plan your own shower.

My favourite cake shops are Bake:Desserts (Dufferin between Eglinton and Lawrence). I love their Red Velvet, Lemon and Old Fashion Chocolate cakes. Their website is http://www.bakedessert.com

The Cupcake Shoppe on Yonge (north of Eglinton) makes some amazing cupcakes. Lots of yummy flavours - lemon, chocolate, vanilla, passion fruit, banana ... they make cakes too but I like their cupcakes better. Their website is http://www.thecupcakeshoppe.ca/

Dufflet is also great - they have several locations but they also deliver. I haven't tried their delivery service since I live pretty close to their store. I think they have a bigger selection than the other two stores I mentioned. The triple chocolate mousse is my favourite! Their website is http://www.dufflet.com

Good luck and have fun at your shower :)
