Where to stay--who to go through in order to have a great Mt. view. Do not know the names of the different areas. Thanks

We usually go 2 or 3 times each year. For the past 4 years we have used Fireside Chalets. Do a google search to find their website or their telephone number is 1-877-774-4121. They are awesome. They are always ready to answer any questons you may have about any of their cabins and also about the area. My family highly recommends them.
We are also going up again this Christmas and they lady I spoke with this late in the year was very helpful in finding a cabin large enough for all of us in the area we wanted to stay in. Give them a try and have a wonderful trip!!!!!!!

Black Bear rentals is who we use. Only caution is to be sure and ask about the road into the cabins. Ours was way steep and almost too much for our regular car.

There are some truly fantastic mountain views if you stay around either Townsend or Cosby. It's a little bit of a drive to Gatlinburg, but from Cosby, the road is very nice and easy to drive (as well as absolutely beautiful).

My in laws have a house outside of Townsend and the views there are fantastic. They look directly at the national park, so there are no electric and telephone lines. Which brings me to the point made by the previous poster...

Be sure to ask about the roads. Steep and winding bothers some people. Gravel roads can sometimes wash and "rut" pretty bad. It's been really dry this year, so creeks and water may not be a big deal right now, but some people don't like driving through that, either.

Wears Valley is also a very popular place for cabins with some of the most beautiful views in the area. The road in and out can be steep and twisty in a few places, but it's not bad at all compared to some other areas.

Ski Mtn. and Chalet Village are good places if you're looking for a condo/cabin/house close to Gatlinburg. Some of those roads are steep and winding, but they're in very good shape.

I dont know where to tell you to stay because we camped. BUT just this morning I was thinking about the best breakfast Ive ever had it was at the Pancake house in Down Town Gatlinburg. I dont even like pancakes and I thought theirs were sooooo YUMMY! So yummy that I thought of them 3 years latter! Do yourself a favor and give them a try! Hope you have a great trip!

Check about the roads to the cabin. I almost cried going up to our cabin. I was never so scared. Oh let me see If I can find some pictures. Good luck.
