My 6 year old son got one for Christmas and we're looking for a game that's pretty simple so he can get used to the controls and actually accomplish something. He got a Scooby Doo game, and while it's easy to use the controls, it's hard to figure out how to advance and he gets frustrated.

Thanks!

The Mario games (there are loads of them) and the Donkey Kong games are fun. My son actually has a game guide (actually a book of cheat sheets!) for Donkey Kong Country. This might help with the frustration and help him to get familiar with a game. My 4-y-o daughter is working on the chicken little game - it's pretty simple to figure out.

My son has mario bros, the Berenstain (? spelling) Bears and the Spooky Old Tree (I think), Franklin, Sonic, and Cars. Cars is the only one that ever gets him frustrated. The others he plays on his own. He also has Harry Potter 2 but always plays with his dad, I am not sure if it is hard or he just likes his Daddy video time. I think the B. Bears and Franklin are really cute, but not babyish because his friends like to play when they come over. All the kids love mario, I do too.
:)

If there is a Sonic game, that's what my 6 year old ds LOVES to play on his PS2. We're picking up a GBA tomorrow from his cousin, so we'll have to go out and buy games for that.

The kids really pick up on how to play these games pretty quickly.

Go to Amazon.com and read the reviews of the different games. We started my grandson with simple toddler games like Dragontales so he wouldn't get frustrated while learning. There are actually quite a few games for young kids, but you don't often find them in the local stores, so we ordered online.

There is a site called "gamerdad" - forums like this where guys who play video games and have kids hang out. They tend to be very knowledgeable there about which games work well for which ages.

i got my dd a candyland/chuttes and ladder/memory game!! she is 5...love mario and puzzle fighter

my 6 year old son loves the racing type games, he has an old one from the original game boy that he plays on it and has herbie and monster trucks. He also plays with his sisters nemo and little merbaid but has too much trouble with them.

Yeah, we couldn't find anything at Target or Wal-Mart that I thought would be good. The only younger games they had were My Little Pony or Barbie and he wouldn't touch those.

I had looked at Amazon, but there were so many! I thought my fellow Disers would have some insight and I was right!

I'll take these titles and go check them out online. Keep posting if you have more!

Thanks!!
