Not fundraising as in non profit but making money.

Let me explain. My niece, Emiley, who is 7 is completely blind in one eye and we learned a few months back that she is losing the site in the other eye, she will be completely blind soon. Before that happens I want her to see Disney World. She is so obsessed with Mickey that when the hurricans moved through a few years back she was worried about Mickey and she didnt even ask about Uncle Rick, my brother who lives in FL. LOL
I could do a cheap get away, stay at a holiday inn etc, but I want her to feel the magic, get the entire experience.
The trip will cost about $3000 for the 5 of us and I have made about $1000 on GPT sites so far. I am thinking a rummage/bake sale, my desserts rock. Do they make a good amount of money? Any other suggestions?

Thanks so much.

You could totally do a silent auction. Get a bunch of businesses to donate products, people to donate products and bake goods, and obviously a place to hold it.

Carwashes DO NOT make money.

Another idea is a yard sale where people donate stuff and you sell it.

I live in a rural toen in Geargia and one thing that usually makes good $$ is a gospel singing. There are many good bluegrass or gospel groups and they are always willing to help out for a good cause. You either charge admission at the door $5 or so and also set up collection jars as well. Many restaurants (for example Chick Fil A) will donate cups and Kroger will usually give you a discount on drinks, hot dogs, buns etc. Have a concession stand with a limited menu like hot dogs, nachos, chips and drinks and your awesome baked goods. Oh and usually the school here will donate the gym for such an occasion. Just an idea.
And have you contacted the local media? It may not be something you or yuor family is comfortable doing, but it could really help. I mean, one donor or company could pay for the whole trip with a donation like that. Good luck.

A beef and beer with raffles, etc always is a big money maker here. Another teacher my DH works with, his daughter had a brain tumor and the only place that would do the surgery is in Arizona. The teacher, his wife and daughter flew out there and the day of the surgery the insurance company decided they weren't going to pay for it, after they had pre=approved EVERYTHING:mad: Anyway, they flew home, got the insurance straightened out, but needed $$ to fly back to Arizona. Hotel/meal expenses while they were there, etc. Their friends got together and threw a beef and beer at a local pub. And between the ticket sales, raffles, and 50/50 drawings they made enought money for all of thier expenses plus the expenses the insurance wouldn't cover:thumbsup2

Another suggestion would be to contact your local make a wish foundation (may be called something else where you live). They may be able to help.

Do you belong to a church?? I'd bet that if there was a ladies guild or something, you could get help to bake lots of treats and hold a bake sale after Sunday services. I also think that people would be more willing to buy baked goods from someone at church than as part of a yard sale. Good luck!

When are you planning to go? Do you know where you'll be staying? Is it just the 2 of you?
