OT-Fairfax County, Virginia police officer slain

OT - I don't know if it's national news yet, but it is on CNN.com. Yesterday afternoon there was a random shooting at a Police Station in Fairfax County, Virginia. There was one officer slain and two injured. The detective that was killed was Vicky Armel, who was an amazing mother, wife and police officer. While she was just an acquantiance of mine, I know her husband fairly well and know the children very well. Our children have all attended school together.

If you have a moment in your day to please think about her family, and pray for them if you are so inclined. Vicky's husband Tyler is also a Fairfax County Police Officer, and she has two children, a son Thomas who is seven and a daughter Mason who is four.

My Dh works 1 block from that intersection at one of the government contractors and had he been 5 minutes earlier would have been right in the middle of it. They blocked off the whole area and rerouted everyone looking for other people. It took up the entire 5-6pm newscast on WJLA. It's sad for those of who were affected and for no apparent reason either. That 18 yo boy needed help and I wonder if his parents knew of the things he was into? I am sure it will be a a very difficult time for her family. I'll say a few prayers for them.

My husband works in the area also. He called me yesterday when it happened and told me to turn on the TV. We will keep them all in our prayers.
