OT: Edmonton - Need dining help

I will be in Edmonton in August for a long weekend (Canadian Women's Open) and would like some suggestions for dinner on a Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night. Staying at the Courtyard Marriott - so something close to there. A good wine list is always appreciated

Also, is it a good idea to make reservations?

What about tipping in Canada? Do you tip and, if so, what amount? Similar to the U.S.?

For Fine Dining I would recommend the Harvest Room @ the Hotel MacDonald. I've never had a bad meal there. Hotel MacDonald is part of the Fairmont Hotel chain.

For a Sunday Brunch I would recommend the "La Ronde" Restaurant at the Crown Plaza, Chateau Lacombe. This is a revolving restaurant that has a speactaular view of the City and River Valley. I haven't been to the La Ronde for Dinner.

Reservations are a must at both.

Those are the two places that I'm familiar with downtown. I know there are plenty of other eating places near by.

We always tip at restaurants, usually between 15-20% depending upon the service.

Oh another must in my family is the Old Spaghetti Factory on the Boardwalk. I don't know if they do reservations or not. But they have wonderful Italian food. Will you have a car because if you do you can make a trip to West Edmonton Mall and you can find just about anything that you want to eat there.

What kind of price range are you looking at? Any particular types of food?
A few of the suggestions already given are great, but if you're not interested in spending at least $100 per person for supper I would stay away from Ruth's Chris. We went there last month for my b-day and all 4 of us were not overly impressed with the food.
That being said, they do have an amazing wine selection!

Medium:
Four rooms-Edmonton Centre
Joey Tomato's Mediterranean Grill
La Spiga (Italian Food)

Of course there is always good ol' Boston Pizza.

I second Ruth Chris and Four Rooms...

Honestly, downtown in that area has so many great restaurants that you probably won't have any problems finding a great place to eat. If you are looking for a less expensive place, there is a pub called Sherlock Holmes that has some ok food at a lesser price. Also, go into Edmonton Center and go to the food court if you are looking for fast food.

There are also a whole bunch of independent mom and pop shops down there....some are only open during the lunch hour for the businesses down there, but look around. These generally are really good too.
