OT: Does the Bloc Québécois have nothing better to do?

We have been discussing this on teh Montreal Canadiens forum forever and the french folks keep saying we all need to show some respect to the french people and Corderre is right in this etc I say the french folks need to learn a little respect as it is a 2 way street. Our politicians should be arguing in the house about things a little more important than who the hell is captain of Team Canadas hockey team like maybe how to get our men and women back from Afganistan before any more of them die needlessly.

This is where our tax dollars are going and in my opinion it's cheap way of winning more seats in Quebec for a future Federal Election. They don't even consider the fact that Shane Doan was cleared of doing anything wrong by an NHL review board. Anyway here is the article so you can read it for yourselves. http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2007/05/03/doan.html#skip300x250

This doesn't just show how sad the Bloc is, but also the extent political correctness has gone awry. Get over it already. This coming from a half-french Canadian living in Montreal too.

This is why I'll never vote for the NDP, Liberals, or PQ. Each of their leaders harshly criticized the decision to make Doan captain.

I loved Ken Drydens comment on how it wasn't anyones business but Hockey Canadas on who they chose as captian. Well Doan stuck it to them today by getting a true hat trick in about 7 minutes LOL.

So who will you vote for? The Conservatives supported the BQ motion as well.

Yes, but according to them, they supported it to give the hockey commission a chance to give their side of the story.

And to answer your question, OP, no, none of them do have anything better to do. At least they proved once and for all what utter buffoons they are. I loved the comment about "we are two nations". NO, we aren't! As long as their separatist referendums keep failing we never will be! But they are very happy to take any provincial transfer payments!

Stephen Harper did not support the motion.

Sorry but the conservatives on the committee supported the motion, participated in the questionning, and defended their right to do so. They all should be ashamed.

I think the better question is don't all our politicians have anything better to do than this? Next time a Quebec separatist supporter gets appointed to Team Canada should we freak out and demand his removal?

Nicholas Gill was a Quebec separatist and carried Canada's Olympic flag at the Sydney summer Olympics. Where was the Parliamentary Committee then???

Don't forget it was Gill Duceppe who also said should Quebec ever become their own country, that all French Canadian players in the NHL should play for Team Quebec and if they did not then it would be an insult to all people in Quebec. I thought under the rules of the IIHF if you play for your country just one time in any International event wheather it's the Olympics, World Cup Of Hockey, World Hockey Championships and the World Juniours, then you can not play for another country. So I guess the Quebec NHL players would be stuck with Team Canada.

Finally if Sean Avery were playing for Team Canada wouldn't the Liberals, NDP and the Bloc want him off the team because he had a similar problem just like Shane Doan? Where are the MP's to sue him and etc?

I haven't been folowing this but did I misunderstand? There is a LAWSUIT for trash talking on the ice? I doubt this was the first offensive thing said during a hockey game. How can he sue if the remark was not made to him?

Yes MP Corderre is suing Shane Doan for his alleged comments to an on ice official during a Montreal and Pheonix game back in 05 to which the NHL ruled there was no comment bla bla bla but Corderre has decided to make it his pet project.

 OK, is it just me or am I wrong to expect my politicians to discuss parlimentary issues, like budget and international relations ect. for my tax dollars? This is the first time in my life that I have ever heard calling a frenchman a frenchman to be a racial slur.....Don Cherry does it all the time. I have french relations, they call me Anglo....should I file for damages done to my poor psychie? I don't get it....we are talking about hot headed hockey players here. I am sure that there has been a lot worse said on the ice.... in fact, I have heard worse at a peewee tournament yelled out by mothers. Talk about a waste of MY MONEY. But hey, that's just my opinion:rolleyes1

I saw on TSN earlier that Stephen Harper called Shane Doan in Moscow to congragulate him on his 3 goal game and to tell him that he is on his side. So to our Prime Minister thank you for supporting Shane Doan in this situation.

How can he sue someone for comments that were made to someone else? Is that even legal?
