Hi fellow Canadians!

If you or a family member suffers from Crohn's, can you tell me what medications seem to work for you. I was on the "DISabilities" board asking about different medications, but I think that perhaps a few of them may only be out in America.

Thanks!

My best friend has Ulcerative Colitis and does well with Salofalk pills and enemas.

My Mom does Remicaid every 6 weeks. She has been on this for 2 years now I think - she has improved, but she can feel it if she has to delay for any reason. It is also a full day for her as she has to travel an hour each way for the treatments.

My husband has had 2 surgeries etc and finally found someone who can help. He was on immuran and that seemed to help but would still get flare ups off and on. Has been on Remicaide for the last 2 years and according to the last colonoscopy, they could not find any trace of any ulcers or crohn's disease in the bowel. His many problem now is he has developed arthritis which is a complication of crohn's and the pain and swelling of his elbows, and hands is bothersome at times but only nearing the time for the next remicaide (every 6 wks). I hope this helps. Remicaide is expensive though, but our drug plan covers it.

Best of luck with this nasty disease!

My dad was on Immuran for his Crohn's but 2 weeks after he started taking it (which helped him immensely) he developed pancreatitis (sp?). It's a side effect of Immuran and he was in the hospital for a bit afterwards. He is really disappointed now though because he can't take it anymore. It was the one medication that seemed to keep his flare-ups in check.
