OT: Canadian Idol Audtions!

Alright guys I'm back...

First thing: I didn't make it past the first producer.

Here's the story...

I got to SC about 9:00 and went to the Center Court.

They had cardboard cutouts of the judges and Ben and TV's playing clips of the show to decorate.

I went to a security guard and they gave me a blue Canadian Idol wristband and procceded to the Registration Desk.

They asked me if I was a member of ACTRA, or if I had a manager or agent, how old was I, etc.

I got my number (WOOT!) 03242. I also got a piece of paper explaining the process.

I then found a place to sit, near some other girls and a guy with a guitar.

I went and took pictures, practiced and drank water, and talked with some of the people around.

They had some McDonald's spin to win thing so I did that.

We saw a bunch of people get Yellow Tickets to the next producer, and I saw one blue ticket.

Then they called numbers 230-50 or something like that, and it was my turn!

My nerves were running at about a trillion miles a hour.

We got lined up in numerical order and then groups of five.

Each group got a audition crew member, and mine was Kray.

There were two guys who were the "must be on TV" type, and two girls, and myself.

I found out that out of my group I would being going first!

So we waited in the line a little bit more, and I saw John Brunton who is exec producer for CI and Deal or No Deal Canada and maybe Deal or No Deal.

We then got ushered outside to the holding trailer in our groups. This was the final step before we actually went to the audition.

We had fun with the other groups, and we had a sing along. The two guys were like, "You'll do good" to me.

We saw a few yellow ticket people come in. The guy with the guitar I sat with eariler made it.

We then got told we were going to be with a producer named Mike. And we went out in the snow to a RV type thing.

We sat down and Mike explained how it worked. One at a time we would sing while the others waited in the back of the RV (the Artists lounge), and then he would decide at the end who would advance, or if he needed another song.

So, the rest of the group went into the back and I stood there and he said "OK, tell me about yourself".

I said "I'm Matthew, 17, and I am a huge Idol fan, watch the foreign shows like Norway, Poland and all those. I've met Melissa twice, and I hope that Calgary can represent again".

He asked what I thought of last season and I said that for me it was so so but I liked Steffi and Eva.

Then it was time, he told me to go when I was ready and I sang, forgot one line but that was it.

He thanked me and told me to wait in the back.

I did and sent out one of the guys.

He said something to the effect of he was from Golden, BC, and he worked in a mill, and didn't know if he could sing because he wears earplugs when he's near the woodchipper.

He was going to sing literally a bunch of gibberish but the producer was like "I need a real song", so he bombed them of course.

I had to really bite my lip because you can't laugh or talk when in the trailer.

Same deal with the next guy.

The two girls were really good and one used a guitar and he told her that he wasn't going to hold it against her if she hit a bad note on the guitar.

So after the two girls, we all gathered back in the area where we sang, and he thanked us and said it takes alot of courage and not alot of people could do what we did, but...

"I'm unfortuantally not going to advance any of you today".

I was shocked that the two girls didn't get through.

We left singing "Leavin' On A Jet Plane".

I grabbed my stuff and walked towards the mall to meet my friend, when I saw Ben Mulroney get out of a van.

I was like "Ben Mulroney!" and he asked me how it went, and I said no ticket, and he said "At least you tried".

And I went into the mall, took some more pictures and left.

All in all, it was really fun and I enjoyed it.
