Hello. I know this sounds like a silly question but I would like some advice about what doll house to buy for DD for christmas. She is 4. I like the Fisher Price Grand Dollhouse. Looks pretty ideal. Here is the link to that one...

Does anyone have this dollhouse and can you tell me if you're child enjoyed it. Or if there is a better one we should invest in?

Thanks so much for any advice you could give.

Danielle

My mom has an older version of the Fisher Price dollhouse and it's GREAT! She had a daycare and it got played with constantly. It held up really well. My kids and her other grandkids still play with it almost every day. It's a wonderful dollhouse and would be a great toy to get her!!

My daughter got a loving family doll house when she was 1. She still plays with it and she is almost 9. It holds up well and so do all the dolls and accessories.

My daugther is 16 months and we were considering getting her a doll house but I just saw on Jon and Kate plus 8 that big playhouse for kids, it was soft not hard that kids can play in, does anyone know who makes that. I couldn't find it today at Target.

The Toys R Us big book has it in thier add. It's called the Rose Petal Cottage by Playskool. They now have a castle, and a market one too.

I saw the rose petal cottage set at Sam's Club too last weekend. It is on our maybe list, but I am sort of turned off by how short everything. My girls would have to be on their knees or sitting to play with the items. But it does seem to be quite popular (or maybe just really advertised alot).

I'd go with the Fisher Price house. DD loved the Fisher Price dollhouse and later graduated to the Barbie Victorian house. The FP house was a terrific lucky purchase ($15. open box with everything in it) and it got played with everyday for years. The Barbie house was a pre-Black Friday purchase that wasn't quite the bargain of the FP house but definitely less than its recommended $99. price tag.

Youngest DNiece got the FP house and wasn't nearly as careful with it as DD had been - it lasted less than a year for her.:headache: I still have the Barbie house as none of the DNieces are/were Barbie fans and I just can't force myself to donate it.

We have had the Loving Family Townhouse for years and it gets played with STILL, about 7 years later!

I also bought the FP Dollhouse second hand a while back. I have added a few more people and furnature to the set.

I also have a daycare centre and the children enjoy playing with it. The extra people sets were around $10 CAN up here. The price doesn't sound too bad to me.

My DD now 11 had the FP Loving Family Doll House and now my DD6 plays with it. Of ALLLLL the toys we have (Pollys, Barbies, babies, etc........), this is by far their favorite! It has gotten SO much play time. It is an investment with the house/dolls and furniture, but we added pieces as we went for holidays, birthdays, special little events. I say it's a sure bet! :thumbsup2
Rose Petal Cottage is adorable and I love the others they came out with this year (market, castle) but I'm not sure about the longevity of it over time (interest in playing with it) since it does look like it is geared more for little ones.

I just ordered dd5 a Mrs. Goodbee Caring Corners Interactive Dollhouse for Christmas. I liked the fact that most of the furniture is already "built-in" so there are limited packs of accessories that you have to buy. It only comes with a girl doll, a baby sister and a puppy, so if you want the parents you do have to purchase that separately though. My biggest turnoff with the Fisher Price one was I felt that I'd be spending a fortune furnishing the dollhouse and I didn't want to get into all those extra pieces. With this dollhouse we can significantly limit that. It's gotten great reviews too.

TRU has free shipping on it right now, although you can get free shipping on amazon, although the house costs a few dollars more on their site. Hope that helps some.

We bought this for them 2 years ago, when they were 4 & 6 http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2384872. It's great because it comes with nice wooden furniture (not a ton, but enough) and they can use it for dolls as tall as Barbie, or shorter ones. It's very sturdy, but easy to put together. They still play with it a lot, best Christmas gift. The downside is it doens't fold up so it is out all the time, but it matches their room so that's okay.

dd has the loving family townhouse. She got it when she was 4 with a ton of rooms and she will be 9 in a few weeks and she still plays with it and it is still in great shape!

I bought my DD a to go house from playmobile. It was $30 and came with a ton of things, 4 people, kitchen gear, bedroom gear even a baby buggy. You can also buy bigger houses and other sets. Kind of neat to be able to buy sets that are really detailed. The resale stays high so you can expect to get almost all your money back you paid out.

My DD is now 6, and she still loves the Fisher Price dollhouse we bought her two years ago. The new version is a bit bigger than her version, but they take the same furniture, and really, it's good quality and not babyish at all.

This year, Costco also has a nice dollhouse which is a bit bigger than the Fisher Price version, so if you're a member there, you might want to look at those.

I was really impressed with the 2 I saw there. One was a massive square and the other had an elevator. What I liked was they were made from wood, are good for Barbies and everything came it.

I'm trying to figure out which one to buy for DD4 for Xmas. I loved the massive one but its massive. :scared1:

DD got a Plan Toys wooden Dollhouse last Christmas. She loves it. It is very sturdy, I never have to worry about a little plastic piece breaking off the furniture or house! They have a variety of styles. Some of them have free shipping on Amazon.

I'd say go with the FP doll house. We have the Loving Family Twin Time (last year's), my neighbor bought her daughter this year's and my MIL has a much older version and my daughter loves all three. One word to the wise -- the furniture sets come with lots of unnecessary pieces. I'd recommend you take out the tiny bits and extras -- throw pillows, rugs, etc before you give it to your daughter. Too much stuff and it all just ends up on the floor and can be a bit overwhelming. When we paired it down to the essentials, she's had much more fun.
