I have tried all the hot cocoa kcups out there and they leave alot to be desired. I was shopping at my local Woodmans grocery store and was shocked to see Swiss Miss Cocoa in kcups! They are not even available on the keurig site. They are not some knockoff either, they are real Keurig branded kcups. They taste just like the packets. Obviously not as good as homemade cocoa with milk, but they are very good. I know others have also complained about the awful cocoa cups, so I thought I would share my find. Hopefully, they will become a widely distributed product.

I just dump the regular cocoa packet into the bottom of the cup before running the Keurig (without a K-cup in it). You do need to open and close the Keurig so it thinks you put a k-cup in, but you don't need to actually put anything in there. It works fine and is lots cheaper. You do have to stir the cocoa when you are done though.

Wow, is it THAT hard to boil water to make hot cocoa?? :confused3

I would bet you're paying 3 times the price (or more) for the "k-cup cocoa" than you would if you purchased a box of Swiss Miss ($1 for 10 packets).

I buy the box of cocoa packets and tea bags. I have a few boxes of K-cups, but I use them slowly and only when I don't want to wait for the tea to steep.

The Keurig is mostly used for hot water around here. Keeps the inside of the Keurig clean too (the bottom of where the k-cups sit), I've seen some that look a bit questionable and stained from coffee coming out.

My kids love to use the Keurig for hot cocoa and think the Cafe Express brand is good, but I'm going to keep an eye out for the Swiss Miss ones. Thank you for sharing. :)

Thanks for sharing. I am going to look for some to keep on hand for company since the other hot chocolate cups are gross. For daily use we just dump a packet in the cup and just run the hot water through the Keurig though. Just as easy and tons cheaper.

Snarky much? Can't boil water on my DH's desk at work! Just posted to let those people who had posted in the past about the bad cocoa kcups that there was another alternative. No need to make snide comments.

When you don't have access to a microwave or stove, yea it CAN be that hard to boil water.

Wasn't trying to be "snarky much"..... Just making a point about buying "k-cups" for something so simple to make.

I'm very budget-minded.... at my old job, I had a small hot-pot at my desk so I could make my coffee, tea, or hot cocoa. There's no way I would spend that kind of money on k-cups! (and we had one of those machines at work long before they became popular!)

Thanks, I will have to look in my grocery store. Was it where the packets are found? This will be great for stocking stuffers.

**To the poster that had a comment about boiling water. My kids like to act "grown up" so IMO this is a kind post to help out. Being snarky was uncalled for.**

Thanks for the heads up I prefer Swiss Miss but I do like the Dark Cocco Cafe Express ones. But I do brew a decaf kcup into a SF packet of swiss miss, great for cold nights. Have you tried the Hot Cider ones those are yummy.

They were by the coffee where the other Keurig cups are found.
Re: the Hot Pot, they are not allowed in the office where my DH works. In fact, no regular coffee makers either. Those are on a different floor in a breakroom. Single cup brewers and spill-proof coffee cups with lids only.

I love my Keurig but I hate hot cocoa in it. I don't think swiss miss would work for me tiether. I am a hot chocolate snob unfortunately and have to have milk instead of water too. But I think this is cool for my son who prefers the regular stuff. Thank you OP!
