What hotel would you choose? Please share your reviews, thanks - going to the Juniors game v. Sweden at the ACC and may stay downtown.

I have stayed at the Sheraton, and it is really nice. We ended up getting a room with a balcony that overlooked city hall.
They currently have a deal for 129.00/night with 20.00 going to the Daily Bread Food Bank, which runs until Dec.30. You do need to mention that you want the Breakfast Televion rate.
Royal York is also nice, just more pricey

If you have enough money to do the Royal York, I would choose the Park Hyatt instead. Much better hotel. I also love the Sutton Place. But I find their washrooms too small.

I've stayed at all the hotels listed and for me the Marriott was my favorite. If you're a shopper, it's attached to the Eaton Centre which makes shopping convenient and you won't have to carry a heavy winter coat around. They also have a great breakfast in the morning. Even if we're not staying there, we go there for breakfast. All the hotels were really nice and I had no complaints about any of them. Except maybe the Delta Chelsea. It's such a huge hotel, they have a seperate elevator to the parking garage and it's tiny. We had to wait forever to get on the elevator as there was huge line up just to use the elevator to the parking garage on the day that we checked out (I think it was probably a Sunday). The Westin was bit more of a walk to the places we like to eat/shop, but a very nice hotel.

Sheraton is my number 1 choice followed by the Westin. Both owned by SPG.
The Fairmont is beautiful but the walls are to thin for the dollars you pay.

whatever you do, don't stay at the Delta Chelsea!

We stayed there with the kids this summer, and while I was expecting less than what we're used to at the Sheraton Centre I wasn't prepared for how disgusting the Delta would be - dark, dirty, small REVOLTING change rooms in the pool area.

We piggy-backed that stay with a trip to Birch Run, Michigan for a little outlet shopping. We were enjoyed far better accomodations at the Country Inn & Suites!

I've stayed at both the Sheraton and the Westin and I like the Westin more. Both great hotels though.

For location though I would go with the Sheraton hands down.

thanks for the reviews, very helpful! I'd say we're leaning towards the Sheraton, that's a great BTV rate and I love that $20 goes to the food bank.

please keep the reviews coming!

Have stayed at Royal York, Sheraton (6x) and Delta Chelsea(4x). Royal York is beautiful, and we had a wonderful view from a corner suite, but we weren't as impressed with the location. Delta is fast becoming dated, and I probably won't return there again. The Sheraton is far and away my favourite, love the location, being attached to underground mall and across from skating at City Hall. Loved swimming outside during the snowstorm, and supper at Le Bifteque.

thank you, that's very helpful~Sheraton is getting lots of :thumbsup2

We stayed at the Holiday Inn on King last summer and really liked it. It's not exactly downtown but it's not far and it's closer to much of the nightlife.

Sheraton & Marriott are the best choices for shopping without going outside.

Harbour Castle Westin, Sutton Place & Four Seasons are great hotels but if shopping is your main goal you want to be near the Eaton Centre. Unless you loaded and can drop thousands of $$$$$ at the chic shops in Yorkville and on Bloor.

Sheraton Centre, hands down for location. Also, the beds are super comfortable. Nice decor in the rooms.

There is a small food court underneath with McDonald's, Chinese food, sandwich place etc.

You don't need to go outside for shopping. You can walk to the Eaton Centre underground and also the best Bay store in Canada (Yonge and Queen).

You can also get to the subway underground very easily.

Ask for a room facing Queen Street so you can watch the skaters at Nathan Phillip Square. Very pretty at night.

Another vote for Sheraton. We stayed there last April. Used Priceline bidding and got a Saturday night for 60.00!!. If you decide to go there you can check out the reviews on trip advisor. It is cheaper to park in Toronto Public Parking garage across the street from hotel. There is a entrance right in front of the side of hotel across from Nathan Philips Square, which is where the actual garage is under. Beds are very comfy. :rotfl2:

no not loaded :lmao: but still would like to shop a bit before the hockey game
excited about the game too, it'll be my first time at the ACC

One vote for The Suites at 1 King West. Corner of King and Yonge. Sounds expensive (at least it did to me) but the price turned out to be cheaper than most of the above mentioned hotels. Our "suite" had a mini fridge, sink, microwave, and very small washer and dryer. Great views of the city, we were up on the 40-something floor. There's a subway stop outside the front door, but it's also less than 10 min walk to the ACC.

Sheraton Centre is my choice. It's very centrally located so you can walk to pretty much everything. You probably will still want a cab to ACC though. It's accross from nathan Phillips square so take your skates, and a hop, skip and a jump from Eaton Centre. I don't know if it still has it but there used to be a rooftop indoor/outdoor pool that was very cool! I've also stayed at the Holiday Inn on King and the Mariott Eaton Centre recently. We had a bad experience at Holiday Inn on King. Holiday Inn has only an outdoor rooftop pool. Marriott was nice enough.

we initially (before this thread) booked at the Delta Chelsea - we'd stayed there twice before, years ago. the first visit was nice, second was ok. that's why the input from the dis was important to me. we're booked at the Sheraton now & looking forward to it.

A PP wrote about parking, we were going to valet but it's $40!! almost half the price of the room, so that's not in the cards. We'll have to see about parking regularly or by city hall.

Thanks everyone!
