Sports Kids Moms And Dads?

I caught a few episodes of re-runs and needless to say i
was totally amazed that some parents push as hard as they do!
an i overreacting or did anyone else feel the same way watching this happen?

I watched both showbiz moms and dads (last summer it was on i believe) and now watch sports kids moms and dads. See in Showbiz m&d I thought the parents were a little pushy....some more than others. But in sports kids m&d I dont think their all that pushy. I thought Trenton's Dad was a little pushy...untill the latest episode I saw. Little Trenton learned his team didnt make it to playoffs and cried. Not because of his Dad or anything, but because he was truely sad! It showd he really had a love for the game!

I was following the season for most of it. I have always felt bad for the boy who ice skates. In an early episode, his mom (and him) both mentioned how if he didn't do as well as he could, she just couldn't even speak to him for several days afterward. VERY sad.

And the dancer/cheerleader, the little girl. She was pretty young and her mom would run, grab her out of a rehearsal only to rush her, changing in her car, to a recital somewhere else. Really got pretty mean when the little girl wasn't shaking herself enough in her dance routine. The little girl's one teacher would say that the little girl was being spread too thin, that she might be one of the better ones at everything but wouldn't be THE BEST like her mom wanted, since she was pulled too many directions.

Reminds me of a girl I know around here, who at 5 was doing private, group, and team lessons for a particular activity to the tune of about 7 hours per week. More when a competition was coming. And this didn't include the gymnastics and dance classes she attended 3 days a week to become more flexible/add tricks to her routines. Kept thinking, of course she will get to competition and do really REALLY well. Most parents wouldn't dream of putting their 5 yr old little kids through that much pressure. The poor girl missed everything. And didn't speak too happily about it, either.

I try to tell myself that we all try to do what is best for our children. I just feel bad when someone is apparently REALLY missing the important stuff.

JUST MY OPINIONS!!

I felt bad for thewhen his mom and him were watching the DVD of his performance and tch the rest and she's like you mean the ones that beat you? i kow it's the truth but it wazs kind of harsh.

the mother of the dancer/cheer girl really bothers me because she's always pushing like crazy and then she was like "i hope that she wins this because it will kind of be like me winning it too" (or something like that. she's just trying to live through her daughter as is the football dad. Yes i agree he loves playing but at some point in time if that little boy doesn't want to play anymore i can see the dad being verrrry mad.

I can't watch it, I tried. It totally infuriates me to see parents treat their children so horribly. When my daughter played pee wee softball there was a Sports Dad who's daughter was on the team(ages 5,6,7). I went off on him at one of the games, he never sat in the bleachers again haha. The second year the coach told him he could not come to the games unless he mellowed out. His daughter was a spectacular softball player for a six year old and he just could not see it. sad sad sad
