We're starting to research a long weekend stay at Myrtle (3 nights). Has anyone found great book early deals?

Also, we typically stay at less crowded beaches - Oak Island, Carolina Beach, etc. How busy is Myrtle in mid-July? Is it so busy you're constantly stuck in traffic and can't find a spot on the beach to sit? Do you see a lot of people intoxicated?

Thanks!

i got something in the mail about summer early booking specials from Dunes Village Resort in Myrtle Beach. wish i had saved it now, but its probably on their website. Dunes Village is a condo resort right on the beach. we spend a weekend there in january every year because they have 2 good indoor water "parks". i like the location, not in a congested area on the beach, and its not far from Broadway at the Beach.

mid-july is busy in myrtle beach, and i have to admit i don't go to the beaches there because i live 5 minutes from ocean isle beach (30 minutes north of MB), with the exception of camping on the beach at surfside in the fall. but i do shop in MB all year long. summer traffic is heavy, but the roads are good and traffic is moving, you're not usually stuck sitting there. its not hard to get where you want to go. just remember restaurants will be packed so go to dinner early or make reservations. i don't think you are likely to see "partyers" on the beach, unless maybe during college spring break season. in july you will see mainly families. 4th of july week is a different story, way too crowded but it's the same way at all the local beaches, Oak Island included.

Thanks for the great advice! My dh is worried that it will be so crazy there in July we will hate it. I'm looking at Monterrey Bay Suites. I've heard Dunes is nice but no deals for the number of nights I'm looking for.

I get emails from a site, and have one in my personal email right now, that is 25% off plus 5% if you book online. If you would like the link, feel free to PM me and I'll send you the link. :cool1:

I've been getting emails from the Sea Watch Resort in myrtle for the last few days. They're Summer booking emails so check their website out.

Thanks everyone! I asked the kids if they would rather go to Myrtle this year or try Water Country USA in VA. They voted for Water Country. I found a great rate at a hotel very close by so we're going there for our summer vacation instead!
