Thinking about taking a beach vacation. Been to Disney 4 times in the past 8 months. Has anyone ever stayed at this resort Dunes Village. I am looking for on the beach with a great pool too for kids. Thanks

I have never stayed there, but I heard it was a nice place. I used to live there so if you have any questions about attractions, shopping, restaurants, I can help you out there..:goodvibes

I too have heard it is a nice place. I also heard Myrtle Beach is nice. Is there other things to do besides just go to the beach. I could do that but my kids 8,6,and 3 might get tired of that. Thanks

I've stayed there twice, it's very nice. The resort is pretty new, my kids (3 and 5) LOVED the pool. We went in the winter and just used the pool, and they had so much fun we came back for a longer summer trip. The pool was fairly crowded in the winter on Sat night (a huge group on teens) but in the morning we had it to ourselves. In the summer it was never bad even with the hotel completely full, lots of people where out on the beach instead.

My only complaints are that the load/unload area is small and gets really crowded during peak checkin/out times. Load up your car the night before you leave. The parking is across the street in a garage.

Also, if ocean front view is important to you, get ocean front not ocean view. The ocean view on the side of the building is really just a view of the adjacent building, we were disappointed with that and next time will go with ocean front.

We'll definately go back.

I have stayed at the Dunes Village numerous times. It is a lovely facility with a new section along with water park. I prefer the first section as it has a small restaurant for quick lunch out by pool. Ocean view is my choice just because I usually choose the angled deluxe queen suite for a large group.

We just stayed there for fall break for the first time. We had never been to Myrtle Beach. We got a three bedroom condo for our family of six. It was very spacious and clean. The kids loved the indoor water park. It was by far our best beach vacation. The kids are already asking to go back.

This is our favorite place to stay at Myrtle. The kids love the indoor water park. It's a nice hotel.

Hi everyone! I have never stayed at the Dunes, but have always heard it's a great place to stay! Also check out the Sea Mist Resort and The Breakers Resort as well. Great family package deals! My family and I only live an hour away from Myrtle Beach, so I'd be happy to answer questions and give you the inside scoop on great things to do while your visiting!:thumbsup2 We scoot down there all the time to eat or shop at the Tanger Outlets( a must if you go!!!!:thumbsup2) Have fun planning!!:cool1:

Well I just booked Dunes Village Resort for June 27th to July 4th. We are hoping it will be a great time. I love the beach. If anyone has been let me know and make suggestions on must do's with a 8, 6, and 3 year old!

We booked the Sea Watch in N. Myrtle Beach. Can anyone share their experiences there? Also, who has seen the Le Grande Cirque at the Palace Theater?

We stayed at Dunes Village this past summer. The kids loved it - 8, 4 and 3 at the time. Rooms were spacious and pretty clean - for the beach. We would go back but still prefer WDW.
We did see the Cirque show. It was fabulous for the price.

We stayed there last fall and it was wonderful. The pools and water play areas are just wonderful. We had a 1BR condo in Palmetto w/Ocean view and it was fantastic. A great place for a family vacation!

There are plenty of lousy hotels in MB, but Dunes Village isn't one of them. We loved it at it's grand opening, and we'll be headed back there soon! (We also like the Caribbean Resort and Dayton House, but Dunes Village is our favorite so far.)

We generally go low-budget and spend most of our time on the beach and in the pools. No shows, shopping, etc. I usually do take DD to the Children's Museum once each trip, on a rainy day (we go twice a year, except I wheedled everyone into accepting Disney World last time instead of MB). :goodvibes
I think the Children's Museum is overpriced for what it is (you can usually find a coupon in a local parents magazine), but that's the beach for you. It's not the biggest place (most of the exhibits are in one big room), but DD4 always enjoys it, and there is a seashell exhibit in case you want to review what you might be finding on the beach on a lucky day.

We also usually splurge on one dinner at the Sea Captain's House. Nice ocean view, decent seafood.

I think the 2 Dunes Village buildings aren't that different, since the whole resort is so new, even the "old" part isn't really old. I think they just have a different mix of room types. Both buildings will have plenty of pools, indoor and outdoor stuff, etc. When we were there at grand opening, the 2nd building was under construction, so we got a look at it going up. I'm sure if you call, they could give you a little more info, if that is of concern.

Good choice you made! :cool1:
