Hello

DH and I are looking for opinions for our 15 yr anniversary trip this june. We will be going without the kiddos. We are looking at either Atlantis in the Bahamas or Sandal Emerald Bay in the Bahamas. I am looking for people that have gone to either of these places. Curious to find out what things there are to do there.

TIA

We were just at Atlantis earlier this month (work paid for everything). We LOVED it! It was our best beach vacation! The resort is just stunning and in a level all it's own. The water park is a lot of fun. There are plenty of pools and the beach. They have a huge casino, a shopping area, night clubs , a great spa and several restaurants. There are water sports you can pay for. The resort had plenty to do whatever your tastes may be. You can also book some excursions (we did a dolphin encounter on blue lagoon island).

Having only been to another Sandals (St. Lucia), I would probably choose them since it is just the two of you. It probably depends more on what you want - if you want to just relax and have an all-inclusive experience, that would be a great way to go! Sounds fun either way you choose!

I've been to Atlantis and it was one of our favorite family vacations. I think it would still be pretty awesome as a couple, but the big draw there is the water park. I know my dh wouldn't want to go as a couple because a water park isn't his thing... There are great restaurants, a casino (I threw a $1 in an old nickel slot machine and won $1,000! ) the beach, the dolphin encounter. We did find it to be very expensive, but we were traveling with other people who were picky about where they ate etc. It really is beautiful there, I would go back in a heartbeat!

Definitely do sandals. Atlantis didn't have heated pools. We went in november and it was freezing. It is crowded and expensive. However, sandals is expensive. We went to excellence playa mujeres last year. Brr than sandals imho. I also hear good things about the hard rock in dominican republic

We've been to Atlantis. I would return, but probably not for an anniversary trip. It draws alot of families. If I am leaving the kids at home, I prefer and adults only resort so that I don't spend the entire vacation thinking "oh DD would love doing just what that little girl over there is doing", etc. etc.

Are you set on the Bahamas? We like the Bahamas if we are going on a gambling vacation, but for a relaxing vacation we prefer either Playa Del Carmen, MX or Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. There are lots of fabulous adults only resorts at both and include more than the Sandals properties (like 24 hour room service) and are usually less expensive than Sandals.
