OT- Any one go to Bahamas for Vacations?

We have a trip coming up in November to Grand Bahama Island for a week. Has any one ever gone on a family vacation over there? What can I expect? We are staying in a condo. Im actually just very concerned about how safe we will be while on vacation! any help or insight would be very appreciated. Thanks Nettii

You're going to love it! It is pretty safe. It is like any place. Be aware of your surroundings etc. We haven't done it as a family vacation yet but plan to soon. I've been there twice and had a blast both times. I've stayed at Atlantis and another resort on Cable Beach. It is very pretty and layed back. You can take cabs places if you want but they are a bit expensive. It will be a nice sun and fun vacation. I love the Bahamas. Have a great trip!

Thank you Mouse House Mama, We have never taken the kids on a trip out of the country (besides Canada-we are on the border) and we usually go to my favorite spot Disney! we always fell so safe at Disney.
We will be visiting the Grand Bahama Island I hope we fell as safe as you did in Nassau.

I've only been to Paradise Island (Nassau) years ago, but I've been looking into Grand Bahama island. Please let us know what you thought when you get back.

Quite safe, in fact safer than a lot of cities in the U.S. I've been in a lot of foreign countries and never had a problem. As a kid I took buses when I was 12 all over the city, something I wouldn't feel safe doing here. In this city in Europe of 3 million the murder rate was 1-2 per year!

There are some really bad neighborhoods in Washington, D.C., we had to go to a play put on by DD school and for some reason they used a theater in a dangerous location. Riding the metro down there we saw people doing drugs, and I nearly got hit by a SUV that wouldn't stop when crossing the street.

I hated it! Not that I didn't feel safe but I just hated the way we were treated by the locals(when you're black and you're there they treat you a heck of a lot differently than they do everyone else). Also, beachy-type vacations aren't my cup of tea. I went with my mother prior to my wedding as it was time my mother wanted to have with me before I got married. I will never go again.
