Just wanted to update: I talked with the manager of the hotel and he agreed to give us a FULL refund! I am so impressed with the customer service of this hotel. This type of situation definately makes me a loyal customer!

This has nothing to do with Disney, but I was wondering if anyone had ever had any luck in this type of situation.

Each July, 9 of us in our family go to St. Louis for a few days. We stay at the Holiday Inn Six Flags in Eureka, MO. This is our 5th year in a row making this trip. we have booked an internet only rate that cannot be cancelled and we had to pre-pay the entire stay (over $900 total!)

On Sunday, my 14 year old niece fell from a zipline and broke her right wrist AND her left elbow and dislocated the growth plate in her left arm. she is still in the hospital as the left arm has swelled so much and she has lost feeling in some of her fingers. (as if it isn't rare enough for a kid to break both arms at once, my own daughter did it two months ago! yes, we are a weird (and klutzy) family!)

Anyway, since we are supposed to go on this trip next week, we obviously cannot go now. I am hoping we can get a credit or something so that we can use the rooms either next summer or even this fall when her casts come off. It's really not a possibility for some of us to go as the whole point is a family vacation.

Has anybody ever had anything like this happen? Was the hotel willing to work with you? We cannot afford to throw away $900 on hotel rooms, but for obvious reasons this trip is out for now.

Sorry to ramble...just looking for some advice, I guess.

Hotels are often independently owned and operated and can make their own decisions, but I will share our experience with a Holiday Inn in Grand Island NE. We had had a nice dinner, swam and settled in for the evening when we got a call at 10PM that my dad back in Denver had fallen and broken his hip. Surgery was planned for the next morning and since he was not in the best of health anyway, we decided to head out right away, 6 hrs. away. That wonderful hotel not only did not charge us for the room but they told us to use the inroom coffee maker to make a pot and gave us some extra travel mugs.

We will always stay there on our trips back to the Midwest due to their kindness in a tough situation.

Hoping you have the same luck!

I know someone who booked the same internet/pre-pay deal with a Holiday Inn Express. When she ended up cancelling they did not refund her at all. She even spoke with several people in thier customer service. I know several people (on line, not with the hotel) told her to at least try to get a future credit. I don't know if she was successful. I don't think she was. But, it doesn't hurt to ask about the credit.
