Yippee! DD and I are so excited!!!!!!!!! Supposed to open August 2007 in Atlanta. Now I'm debating holding off my DDs b'day party for 2 months so she can have it there. Here's the blurb out of the AJC today.

American Girl Boutique and Bistro will open at the North Point Mall in Alpharetta in August 2007. This new retail experience gives moms and girls the chance to shop for the American Girl dolls, books, and outfits they adore in a fun, whimsical environment. The Bistro offers casual dining- from brunch and lunch to delicious desserts- and party rooms for American girl-themed celebrations to recognize birthdays or any day. In addition, special classes and programs will keep girls and moms coming back.

The Dallas Boutique will be at the Galleria. Don't know an opening date there. Here's the link to the AG Press Release. http://www.americangirl.com/corp/media/2007/0116bandb.html

Has anyone been to the one in Atlanta yet?? I have been to the store in Chicago and I am wondering how it compares. Is it a true destination or just a store in the mall? Does the bistro have set seating times like the cafe does? Thanks!

I have been to the Atlanta store as of today. Stood in line today for 2 1/2 hours to get in the door at the Grand Opening. Spent 45 minutes to check out once we made our selections. The Bistro is already totally booked for weekends through October. They also said they were almost totally booked through the end of the year for birthday parties as well. Sorry, I have not been to Chicago so I can't really compare it to that store. Didn't seem too special to me though.

Thanks for the info! That is a long wait. The Chicago store is three levels. The top level has Girl of Today items, Bitty Baby items, and the cafe. The main level is books and accessories. The lower level is all of the historical collections and the theater.

klj27, it is a one level store including the Bistro. Doesn't sound like Chicago at all. There was one small section for the Bitty Baby Items. I read the store was 12,000 square feet.

Thanks again for the info. It sounds like it is nice to go to if you live nearby but not a vacation destination like the other store.

Dh was working in the Am. Girl store in north point a couple weeks ago putting in the security system. He said there were cracks in the paper covering the windows and there were tons of little faced trying to get a peek. We went to the one in Chicago last year and thins one is tiny. They were lpraticing making the food. He said it was cute. I was out of town this weekend and he wanted to take dd. But I convinced him to wait till Oct. for her B-day.
