Does anyone have any experience with the 2011 Kia Sorento? We are in the market for a new vehicle (or a "new-to-us" vehicle, if it is the right one). We need a vehicle that can fit 3 carseats in the 2nd row (we need at a bare-minimum 53" from armrest-to-armrest). The Sorento is 55" across in the 2nd row.

I like the 3rd row seating available in the Sorento - I don't think we would use it often, but it is a nice option to have for those occasions that we may need to tote around an extra child or two.

If anyone has any feedback on the Sorentos, I would love to hear it.

TIA!:)

Thanks for the link. I've read quite a few online professional reviews. Just wondering if any other "buget-minded" folks on my favorite board might have any personal experience/input.:)

I used to have a Sorento was very happy with it. We like the Kia family of cars. We also traded in our Sorento for the Barrego. We actually drove our Sorento to Disney Last year from Texas with absolutely no problems. I would recommend it if its feasible for your family.

I'm think a Sorrento may be a little small to put 3 carseats in the 2nd row. You might want to check out the Kia Borrego, which is a larger SUV. (I have one.) The 2nd seat is wider than the Sorrento, and there is 3rd row seating as well.

The Borrego wasn't made for 2010, but there should still be some new 2009's out there with good rebates. Reportedly there will be a 2011 version coming out sometime later this year.

We brought home a new Honda CRV on Sunday, and the Sorento we another vehicle we looked at. For a bigger family it might be a good buget minded choice. It drove well, and seemed really roomy inside. We only have one DD, and I am used to driving a cmpact so it felt like driving a tank to me. DH drives a pickup and was fine with it. I didn't like hoving to climb in and out (I am only 5'3").I don't know if 3 carseats will go on the second row or not. It would be tight I think, and uncomfortable for 3 older children once they came out of the seat. The third row is one option to help with the crowding. The Borrego is nice and roomy, but also a good bit more expensive. We also looked at the mazda5. I would suggest driving that as well. It has 2 captian's chairs and a bench seat in the back like a minivan, but is a good deal smaller. The cargo area is smaller than the Sorento. We ended up with the Honda because it was the best quality for our money and worked for our small family. If I had more kid to haul I would have likely gone with either the Kia or the Mazda.
