RICHMOND A Foster High School student died when a 240-pound barbell apparently fell on his neck while he was lifting weights, authorities said today.
Cameron Michael Schaub, 16, was found dead on a weight bench in his home in the 2700 block of Green Falls Lane about 6:30 p.m. Friday, said Fort Bend County Sheriff's spokeswoman Terriann Carlson.
Schaub died from asphyxiation, according to autopsy results released today from the Galveston County Medical Examiners Office. The autopsy determined the asphyxiation was caused by compression of the larynx.
Carlson said it appears the death was an accident but the case remains under investigation.
