I am thinking up a weekend trip for early Dec. Some things you should know about us first...

We don't care for MGM that much.

We also don't care for Epcot THAT much.

We like Epcot more than MGM though.

So, if the weekend only gives one night to chose between going to MGM(which closes at 7) and seeing the lights, or going to Epcot(closes at 9:30) and just "being there at night during the holidays". Which would be best? Does Epcot do any special holiday decorating, besides that which can be seen during the day? We have a half day left for Epcot, or MGM, which ever we don't do in the evening.

Thanks.

Could you see the OL as soon as it gets dark and then go over to Epcot via the International Gateway (either walking or bus boat)?

Sorry, can't remember the name of the display but... Yes, Epcot does have something that is best seen at night. The path coming from Futureworld to the World Showcase is a nicely lit area. There are several arches with different colored lights that make patterns. IIRC, the lights are in synch with the music being played in that area.

Thats a good idea. I don't know why I didn't think of that.

I think Epcot during the holidays at night is wonderful. It's the Festival of Lights, I believe, at the entrance to World Showcase from Future World. I could stand there for an hour and watch the lights going. There's a huge Christmas tree there. Plus the storytellers at each country. And the extra added effects for Illuminations are a big must for us. Just when you think it's over, it's not.

This is getting me excited about my Thanksgiving trip!
