Hello,

We will be in Orlando for 16 days in March with our 3 year old. We will be at Disney World most days, but are wondering if there is anything else we might want to try in the Orlando area. Maybe a beach day? Is there a specific beach that is a must-see? I don't think we will do Universal since my daughter is so young. So, any recommendations of things that may be fun in the Orlando area would be would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

We just got back and had a 1 year old and 3 year old. (2 weeks short of 3 years old actually)

We went to Busch Gardens one day. It is in Tampa, but the drive is simple and just over an hour away. We really liked Busch Gardens as it has a nice mix of rides and animals. They have a train that goes through one of the animal viewing areas, which you can get on an off of. It can be 20 minutes to 45 minutes depending if you do the full circle and strollers can be brought on board. It is different enough from Animal Kingdom that you don't feel like you just did that park. We went the next day to Animal Kingdom and both were unique.

They have a Sesame Street themed area for kids which my 3 year old loved. It had a mini water ride, standard carnival type rides, and lots of rope bridge, bouncing, swinging type explore areas. There is also a very nice water play area that if you are prepared for would be lots of fun. The crowds are very light if you go on a weekday. Get there when it opens, have lunch, and head home when they get tired. It will be a peaceful ride back as everyone fell asleep the whole way back to our resort.

I think you can buy a Sea World and Busch Gardens combo ticket which saves you on admission to both. As Busch Gardens also has real roller coasters, not Disney thrill rides, if you are interested one of the adults can go on a ride as the waits will be short.

When my son was three his favorite activities in Orlando were Sea World, resort pools, and Disney monerail and boat transportation. Take a look at SeaWorld and see if it looks appealing to you. It's our family's favorite and just terriffic for young children (Well actually children of all ages -- still our family's favorite and my son is 15 now.)

I take kids 7,7,3 to Sea World, and US and they love it. I rode the Hulk with the twin two many times to count that day. Tall 3 old did not want to on the Hulk at all. All the kids enjoy Harry Potter at Islands of Adventure.
