We have a spare day or two in our itinery and wondered whether anyone had tried to visit New York from Orlando either for a day or overnight, and if so how easy was it to do?

Nigel:D :D :D

I'm not exactly sure, Nigel, but I do know there is a new low-cost daily service from Sanford to New York with Pan Am. If you look up their website (or Sanford Airport's) you should be able to get details.

Way to go, Nigel ,Gail and Jonny !!! That's a canny day trip !

I've thought about doing it a few times, as I have friends up in NY that I would like to visit, but I've never been bold enough to plan it in.

I think you could go for a weekend easily enough. (or any 2 days in fact...)

Try www.jetblue.com for fares. They fly in into JFK from MCO and I know people who rave about them.

I have flown USair into La Guardia - not a great flight as it involved a stop somewhere (I cannot remember where) and the flight times were pretty naff.

I've done it the other way round. Last year I flew into NY for a few days before going on to Orlando. I flew one way with Delta (JFK to MCO) which I booked with Expedia. It was easy-peasy!

If you have any specific questions, fire away :)

I´m flying into NY before going on to Orlando next week.

Same as Disneymad, we are flying JFK to MCO with Delta, one way for a price of $67.50, or about 44 pounds.

The flight takes about 2 hrs 50 minutes, so with a nice early starrt, a day trip is certainly possible !

If you are going to stop over, try www.hotelkingdom.com for hotel bookings and rates.

Good luck ! :teeth:

After this October my next trip to Orlando won't be until 2004 (Boo Hoo:( )
I want to go to New York for 3 or 4 days then fly down to Orlando, so this info was helpful thanks:D

Again Ive done this the other way round like Disneymad. It was very easy, spend a few nights in NY and then fly down to Orlando. There are certain advantages in doing this if you time the flights to Orlando to get in before the jumbos coming in from the UK, ie not queues at the car rental checkins and you get to the hotel early and stand a better chance of getting a room change if you want one.

As far as a day trip is concerned I wouldnt have thought it possible or worth it. The journey to and from JFK recently can take well over an hour with the major road works going on, plus all the checkin time with the security checks.

The flight when we did it only cost $60 one way, we flew into NY and out of Orlando with BA.

Boston is another great place to do the same thing with, nice and easy to spend 3 days there and then 11 days in Orlando.
