Orlando to F. Meyers

We are planning to drive down to Fort Meyers from Orlando this summer, just to break up the Disney experience, and not get too overloaded.

My question is... which route is better... the I-4 then I-75 or the 27? In the past we have taken the I's, but on the map I have the 27 route seems to be a little shorter, but I am wondering about whether or not it is as good a road or not.

Any help is appreciated...

and we stayed on the Interstate. People were just flying by us and we were going about 75 - 80 mph. So needless to say, you are going at a decent rate of speed. It took us just over 3 hours to get there, and that was with NO traffic. Even if there is a bit of a jam it frees up around Naples right where you do the exchange. My Dad lives down there - it's a nice place to visit the beach - especially in Sanibel. Have a great time!

We'll be going to Ft. Myers in June for a baseball showcase. I had thought about heading down a day early and stopping at WDW for a day, but not sure that's going to be possible.

I don't think we will, but if we have some free time in the evening, what is something nice to do in Ft. Myers??

We've gone fishing near the causeway (between Sanibel and Ft. Myers), the Sanibel beaches are very pretty (rated in top ten beaches on Travel Channel). On Sanibel Island you can do a lot of bike riding, shelling at the beach, and some shopping. In Ft. Myers there's the typical putt-putt places, some go-cart areas, that sort of thing. But you can definately eat cheap in Ft Myers - buffets everywhere!!Perhaps someone who lives there may be more helpful. Have a great trip!!
