Orlando Smackdown: Dis vs. Uni. Ch.16 Japan Hates me, Just Hates me 7-13

Umm, just read Smidgy's long post from Tuesday. I'm exhausted just from reading. Steve, can you switch her from espresso to decaf please!

And I am starting to understand why there is such a big difference in post counts for Nebo and Smidgy. Nebo 2475, Smidgy 5689. But since Steve as often as not posts as Diane, his post count is probably more like 4950, which would bring Diane down to 3214. You are both pretty prolific posters regardless of the real counts, but I think the deck is stacked in Smidgy's favor...

So I talked to Nebo on Wednesday evening, the day of the incident.

He says he's fine but needs more drugs---speed mail to Carpentersville.

He also said that he would get back to typing shortly as long as no one makes fun of all his extra typos. :upsidedow

I hope you're feeling better and that the surgery goes well Tuesday. I would offer you a drink to help ease any lingering pain but since you and smidgy aren't here and I'm not there, just know that I'm thinking about you and raising my glass in a sincere toast for you to heal fast and feel good! You're gonna need to because then I want smidgy to knock you in the head for the McDonald's fiasco.

Oh Dear! Poor Nebo! I thought my family was accident prone... my mom fell in her kitchen after slipping in a puddle of water my brother had tracked in from the pool. She thought she broke her wrist... but as it turns out she just bruised the area where she had broken the same wrist 4 years before... so they said there's scar tissue built up there, but they don't see a break.
No more injuries please!

I got a surprise call from Nebo yesterday and he's doing pretty well. Sounds like he's chomping at the bit to continue on with the trip report, but it's a little rough with only three fingers sticking out of a cast on his right hand :worried: He says this hasn't been his decade ;)

I assured him we all will be here until he gets back and will somehow manage to carry on his trip report without him :rolleyes2 So come on Thumpers, Ponzi and Buzz, give it your best shot!

Nebo, I hope your surgery goes well on Tuesday! Do us all a favor and move your computer downstairs! I think Smidgy is going to need to put a gate up - no more stairs for Nebo :goodvibes

Just popping in to add my good wishes and hope for an uneventful, successful surgery tomorrow.

My Father's Day
a short story by pkondz

I woke up at 5am to start my day. I had to work.
But! I'm off by 3pm and I'll be home by mid-afternoon for a wonderful Father's Day!
I get home around 4pm. It's Father's Day! Yay!
Both girls give me cards. Nice!
I spy a chocolate cake on the counter, Elle says it's from her and Ruby.
Kay pipes up that it was her idea, so really it's from all of them.
Ruby says, "No, you were supposed to come with us but you didn't."
They start to argue.
I go sit in the garage for a while. It's Father's Day.
After a few minutes, I figure it's safe to come back inside. Yep. Smoke's cleared.
"What's for dinner? Shall I heat up the leftovers?"
I'll be darned if I'm going to cook on Father's Day!!!
Ruby replies, "The kids and I were thinking Chinese food."
Okay. It's Father's Day!
I ask around and make up the order.
I phone in the order.
I drive to the restaurant.
I stand in line for 15 minutes.
I pay for the order.
I drive home.
I put everything out on the table.
It's father's day.

:rolleyes2

Actually turned out to be a nice evening. Food was pretty good, cake was good, family was good. I got to have a nice chat with Nebo, and watched (part of) a movie with Kay.

I'm a lucky guy.

Hope everyone else had a nice Father's Day blessed with family.

I guess my DH would be saying something similar. He paid for lunch and supper yesterday. :rolleyes1

I did get him a nice, traditional, Father's Day present. A wallet! At least it wasn't the fish tie...

My poor hubby's Father's day:
  • Nothing from the wife (aka me)
  • DD (when asked if she was doing anything) said, "No, I can't do it, I can barely get out of bed" (her Fiancé recently broke up with her and she is heartbroken, poor kid)
  • Son calls at 7:15pm "Is Dad still up?" No, you know he goes to bed at 5pm. he has to get up at 2am... Says he was all wrapped up with homework for his Masters program and forgot all about it.
So, Ponzi, in comparison, you had a fabulous Father's day!

My DH had to work also, then drive to the airport to pick up his son (who lives in Florida - he's 14).

He made hot dogs on the grill.

I got him a pair of pajama pants.

Exciting day for all...

I'm really glad that several of you guys have talked to Nebo.....strangely enough I think I experienced something similar to a Pkondz phone experience in regard to Nebo.

I will set the stage for you guys. Picture it, the typical evening for me, after dinner, I'm bathing the baby when I hear my cell ring. Now, my hands are full of a 7 month old baby absolutely intent on escaping my cruel, heartless washing of her hair and face. I mean really, want to feel your years? Just try to wash an infant with lightning quick reflexes. So I let the phone ring.

After my sweet baby, turned devil baby in the bathtub, has been successfully bathed, diapered, and sleepered, I check my phone to see a missed call from Nebo with a voice mail message. The message was something akin to the exaggerated statement of "needing to hear my voice" just one more time. Aww, that's sweet of him to leave a kind message. Of course in true Nebo style, any "aww' was brief as his sentiment was quickly followed by chuckling laughter. Yep, it was the continued smack down of my "barely discernible" southern accent.

I get the kids in bed and DH and I attempt to call Nebo back. We leave a message and I tell Nebo I will try to call him back on Saturday. My return call has been delayed by a variety of events, Father's Day for DH on Saturday(yes, early), lunch with my family yesterday, and the start of vacation bible school for the kiddos last night and tonight.

But Nebo did talk to Stephanie on Friday night(reminded me of the Pkondz/T Man call waiting event and made me laugh out loud), Carrie the day he fell, and Pkondz just last night.

In the meantime, I've been searching for more appropriate footwear for Nebo, like those "toesie" socks with the toes all fitting into an individual slot, akin to what mittens are to hands. Only I want a pair for Nebo with toes and grippy bottoms. Don't you guys think something like this would be "just the thing" for our Nebo? ;)

Seriously though, I am hoping and praying that for once, just once, everything goes smoothly for Nebo tomorrow.

Nebo and Smidgy, when you guys read this, know that you are, and have been, in my thoughts and prayers.
