Orlando Smackdown: Dis vs. Uni. Ch.16 Japan Hates me, Just Hates me 7-13

Merry Christmas smidgy and nebo!

I am looking forward to getting caught up on the trip report over the next few days. I don't have to go back to work for another week and half. :goodvibes

Merry Christmas to you too pkondz!:)

XFactor, haha I like that. Oh yes definitely. I am thinking of surprising my hunny with a split stay at BLT and AKL when we go next year. He wants to stay at AK, but also really wanted to stay in a villa at BLT. Yes you definitely want to stay the shorter portion first and I have to end with Disney. In fact, I have to begin AND end with Disney. We usually do Universal right in the middle. Like I said, this TR really has me thinking of trying the Uni resorts.

Happy Holiday's everyone!!! Peace, Joy and lot's of Love to everyone and their families!!!pixiedust: *plus a little Disney magic*

Happy Holidays to you too x factor, are you married to max?
But here's the thing, even if Uni wins the Smackdown Comparisons by a landslide, Disney will still be our favorite parks. Theree is an invisible magic that nobodyy can duplicate, I quit trying to figure out exactly what it is and just leave it at that; MAGIC. That's why we always go to, do, Uni, Busch, Sea World, what ever else in the beginning. Our very first trip to Disney found us staying in Georgia on the way home and we surprised the kids, (and ourselves) with a one day park day at Six Flaggs over Georgia, in Atlanta. After a week in Disney, our very first time ever there, wow, you want tio talk about a depressing side trip!

I thought the ticker was a dead giveaway????

Didn't notice it, and now that you have rubbed our noses in it, It still doesn't say for how long we will be sans offspring.

Coronado, that was our first on property stay with the boys. The girls were just pixie dust back then.

For us it was CBR, and no pixie dust involved. We figured out WHERE babies come from! And for us, sorry Mike, it didn't match up with Valentiines Day, but m ore like Opening Day, in APRIL!
Some of us take it seriously when they hear the command, "PLAY BALL!":lmao:

Your room is gorgeous.
Thank you, I just had it stuffed.
oh, um, never mind.

We are looking to stay there this summer for the first time. We have stayed at Portofino Bay before but we are hoping to get a really good AP rate for Royal Pacific. As my boys get older, they are starting to want to go to Universal more. Traitors!

Triple A can also help over at Royal Pacific. Portofino is a strange resort all right. Very different, pretty, moody, weird sound background, cool pools, but still weird allright. And you never know if the door you just passed through will now open back up going tthe other way!

Speaking of beavers,

uh oh, she's gonna test me, see if she can make me quack.
crack.
Oh, not a good start.

I had a unique opportunity to see a real beaver, up close last night.

Ponzi, you should be here right now beside me. You know why! United we stand, that kind of thing.

Nebo, I really was going to post about chapter 2 last night, but well Marlin Perkins had another adventure in mind for me! And for those of you with beaver around you, humor me and consider this a nature post in the TR.

Oh yes, Beavers are very popular in Chicago, along with orangutan and platypus. Please tell me you aren't going to describe the Beaver.

My father has had increasingly serious problems with beavers.

Haven't we all, haven't we all.

They dam his natural water supply, causing issues with irrigation for the collards and kale he grows this time of year.

Wait, who has issues with irritation?
father has had to set out traps to catch them. On 12/19/12, he caught a huge 70 pound, 48 inch long beaver and he casually mentioned it to me the next day. I told him that the kids would like to see a beaver, heck I would like to see one in person. I got a call last night that he had indeed caught another beaver, this one more medium sized.

Wow, but I still think Priscilla weighed more than 70 pouunds.

It's teeth were as brown as wood, the fur was very shiny and glossy, and the back feet were really thick with webbing. Up close, you can completely see that the feet literally function as paddles. The tail was impressive as well. I had imagined it would be almost rubbery and flexible, but it was actually hard, with a diamond like pattern similar to some snakes. The kids were impressed as was I. It totally justified my many hours of watching "Wild Kingdom" back in the day.

I was in a studio audiance on the show once, got a hug from Jim Fowler.
Marlin tried to sell me a Mutual of Omaha life insurance policy.

My dad has a pretty dry sense of humor and his parting quip was "Hey, it's not too late to consider adding it to our Christmas Dinner!"

Beaver, or Marlin Perkins?

Anyway, consider the wildlife/nature post complete. And hey Nebo, I know I missed posting about your chapter, but hey, I did receive an education and in true Neboite fashion, passed it on in the TR!! ;)

And it worked like a charm, eh?

I enjoyed the chapter Nebo! Your experience with your luggage being late completely rings true with me as this literally happens to me every single time I fly! This never happens to anyone else with me, just me, so I suspect it's a feat to be a part of this illustrious club. :sad2:

I am really enjoyed your video walk through of your room at Universal. I actually rounded up the entire Buzz family so we could all behold the wonder of hearing someone speak with absolutely no discernable accent! ;)

Actually , I DO have an accent now. It's called the Ozark Mountain those cousins are also my sisters accent. I had a crown fall out and my dentist refuses to replace it saying there s not enough there to create a lasting surface to glue, and you'll "Choke your Eye out!" plus I also broke a front tooth so now I "whistle" when it's not a good thing or time to practice my whistling and I sound slurry on the audio portions of, well, anything.

Your Uni/Dis breakdown is very interesting and I am looking forward to reading more. It would be fantastic if Disney had something similar to the Universal pass system for onsite guests, but I doubt that will happen. The Next Gen technology is supposed to offer enhancements so we'll see.

I was last at Universal eons ago, in fact the Hitchcock experience was still there during my last visit.

I heard about that. And they were promoting his new movie with Tippi Hedron, "The Pteradactyls!"

Isn't it amazing he never won an Oscar? I guess sometimes when you are a major jerk and ruin people's careers it's true when they say "what goes around, comes around."

And Nebo/Pkondz, just for the record, shuckle and chudder just don't do it for me. They sound like words that should be used in connection with the scary Nebo photoshop pictures! :sad2:

Yeah, they didn't quite work for me either, that's why I didn't choose one over the other like I normally would have.

Nebo, I was off the boards for a bit while we were at WDW and then had to stay away for a few days until my cloud of gloom dissipated because we don't have any trips scheduled for next year.... Anyway, I'm just catching up and I wanted to stay thanks for the video of the Royal Pacific. That is an awesome room! I'll have to remember that when we do get around to booking a trip with my stepdaughter. She really wants to go to Universal, obviously I haven't had enough of an influence on the kid...

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

Yeah, well, she'll love staying at Royal Pac. We stayed once at Hard Rock, which IS closer to the parks, but after a day sthere, the theming seemed to get extremely bland and generic, as big as the pool is, with a great slide, there's only one small little spot where the water actuallhy rises past my belly button, and not by much. Portofino's pools are better, and the one there has a nice respectable slide, but all around, we stick to Royal Pacific.

Ummmmmm ... Cough ........ Really?

Sounds vaguely like my sister's wedding .....

:lmao:Oh look, now its' Sam trying to get me in trouble, but I'm the mature adult here, I'll SHOW 'EM!

Uh oh, she's back. Not done with me yet.

And now Nebo and Pkondz, you have definitive proof that you two are not the only ones with your mind in the gutter! Just kidding Margy!! ;)

No, I don't think it's either one of Ponzi or myself with off colored thoughts and ill conceived conceptions.

That would be Mike you are confusing us with. He's the bad influence, the monkey in the wrench, the bad seed, teh bad apple, Captain Bligh, Dr. Mudd, The Great Deceiver, the Dropped Cell Phone Call, the remake of Planet of the Apes, the remake of The Longest Yard, the Chicago Bears play book, TicketMaster booking plays, Maclean Stephenson leaving MASH, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride leaving Magic Kingdom and finally, the Brazillian Soccor Coach, (and Team on command) trying to intimiidate ME in front of my wife with injury threats I wouldn't back down from over at All Star Sports in July of '10.

And what the heck was I/we, talking about before I started my filibuster?

The beaver I referenced above was the small plane Pkondz mentioned flying in once upon a time.

Huh? you mean,,,,,
and all those innuendo,,,?
Well fine, that's just Jim Dandy to the rescue, and if you think for one minute yound lady, that I"m now going to go and make all this right,,,, well,,, heh
heh

heh.

nope, not happening.

However, in my first job after college I worked as a CSR.

Ok, here we go again. You worked as a ,,, um,,, you worke as a Coronado Springs Resort!

A cute spacy republican.

No? Oh, I got it! a Cocker Spaniel's Rubberbone?

ok, trying harder,,,, a customer service representattive?

In that job I ran across a name, and I am completely NOT kidding here, with the last name of the aforementioned mammal/plane, first name of Velvet.

Ok, still not as bad as Auric Goldfinger's personaly pilot's name in Goldfinger, um,,,, Miss Galore!

What a way to limit future career aspirations! :sad2:

Right, I agree. Not something that isn't stupid, yet really hops!
Something like, oh, um,

Nebo!

Huh?

Oh, Ok, never mind.

Sorry I have been absent, DH gave me his plague (cold) for Christmas. :rolleyes2

OH, how nice! Is it gold trim? And where did you hang this Plaque, that's cool that he's willing to share personal acheivments like that wi,,,,,,,,hold on,,,,

RUh ROH,,,,,
I''m sorry, I thought that was it, boy that lower case q and g look a like!

Ok, um, SO,,,, was it pneumonic? Or bubonic? And how come I'm still allowed to be right outside your bedroom door?

sweating?
And what are these birth marks popping up?
and this extra nostril?

And I have been rereading If It's Tuesday... I'm reading everything this time instead of just skimming like I did last time. There's some good stuff in there. I was rolling when you talk about hitting the Japanese man. And did anyone know that Nebo could predict the future? Look, direct quote:

"I am really wondering what they're going to do with that "Legendery side" that was already started. My own guess is that if the mini-suites work out at All Star Music, the whole Legendary Years might be baby suites."

Now, can you give me some winning lottery numbers for tonight?

Yes, I could figure it out with the last entries of the Mayan Calender, up until the last entries. You mean you didn't know that? It was right there!
Now it's too late. But if you can find Doc Brown,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Nebo and Smidgy

Lady H and I wanted to wish each of you (and our DISfunctional family) a Merry Christmas.

I read that too, restrained myself and let you have it... It is your TR after all. :rotfl:

My father has had increasingly serious problems with beavers.

Haven't we all, haven't we all.

:lmao: O. M. G. !!!!

:lmao::lmao::lmao: That has to be the absolute funniest thing you've written!

Hahahahahaha! :worship::worship:

Right quick because Santa is TIRED!!

Nebo, I thought you and Pkondz might enjoy my story. It was impossible to pass up the opportunity to recount it, what with the great Pkondz comment about the plane a few pages back. When the sighting and subsequent story almost literally giftwrapped itself for Christmas, well, I couldn't not post it. ;)

Where would we be without creativity?

Way to keep me up late on Christmas Eve, people!

Luckily, my duties are done! We host a big dinner shindig every year on Christmas Eve for the extended famiy. Turkey, Honeybaked ham and all the fixings. This started 40 years ago (sans ham), when the family was far smaller. Now it's 25 people cramming into the living room. Dinner is eaten on your lap(wiht a plate) or whatever surface one can find. Grandpa got a tray table though! Presents just for the little kids from the extended family. And the little kids keep coming....
After everyone left, we did presents for the immediate family, first time including my daughters' intended. And my son is home on leave :goodvibes (yes, from Montana, Nebo, good memory). Since we shipped a lot of presents directly to Montana, we improvised and put slips of paper in a cup for him to pull out to see what he got.
This time of year is always stressful for me. Hubby insists on this big dinner, I would much rather just do appetizers, but I lose evey time and I gave up..he wants his turkey sandwiches... It's over now and I can relax tomorrow.

Merry Christmas to our DISfunctional family!!!:santa:

Merry Christmas Nebo, Smidgy and family - and that includes your DIS family! I hope Santa was good to you both :goodvibes

Merry Christmas everyone!!! Hope everyone has a great day. And don't catch my plague---no Q!

Merry Christmas my friends! God's blessings to all of you!

To answer your question Nebo we are staying 2/9-2/13, just a quickie!

That should be fun. Nothing wrong with a quickie now and then.

Oh, and Nebo. Congrats on clawing your way up to second place on the post count... unless Monica posts again.

I have to show you guys the youngest Buzz family member's holiday style for today.

She's really in the spirit with Santa on her feet and hindquarters!! :rotfl:

At least I was kind and resisted putting her in a full size bunny suit for Christmas! ;)

I hope everyone has had a very Merry Christmas today.

Much love to you all!

That should be fun. Nothing wrong with a quickie now and then.

I'm going to abstain from any comment on this one, though a few thoughts do pop into my head. I'm taking the high road today. :rolleyes1

I can't risk being permanently lumped into the same category as you and Nebo! ;)

OMG, baby feet and baby butt! So stinkin' cute Buzz!

As a long time lurker on Nebo reports I am signing on to say Merry Christmas to everyone. I had an enjoyable evening catching up on this report and looking forward to more exploits.
