Orlando/Sanford Airport ?

What are the transportation options to get to WDW when arriving at Orlando/Sanford Airport?

What have been your experiences with this airport? Good/Bad/Ugly?

My family of 4 can fly round trip for $500 so it might be a bargin if geeting to resort isn't too expensive.

We flew into Sanford last October and highly recommend it. I admit we missed the DME but the convenience more than made up for it. We rented a car for the week - all of the major rental companies are there and we were able to get a good rate for the week. It took about 15 minutes longer to drive from the airport than it does from MCO, but that was more than made up for with the small size of the airport. Both arrivals and departures were super smooth and took only a fraction of the time that they do at MCO. Even the guys running security seemed to be friendlier than at MCO.

We'd never rented a car in Orlando before but having one to get around the parks was a real treat. A lot faster than taking Disney transportation (except to MK). Also allowed us the chance to go to Seaworld and do some outlet shopping.

Love Sanford...it's a truly user friendly airport. I used it last April and will again next month. The only 'issue' with using Sanford is getting to WDW. Yes, the fares are usually much cheaper getting to Sanford, but you have to think about transportation options. We enjoy renting a car there...the rental counters are just off the main terminal area.
Be sure to plan on enough time for the drive....takes about an hour from Sanford to WDW.
When you pay $150 r/t, pp, you can well afford to spend a bit to get a rental car. I normally figure on about $250 pp r/t.
