I checked out the Orlando gay scene a year ago, it was very scary but I was just thinking may I missed something.

Are there are gay sports bars or regular gay bars in the area? Im not looking for a club or a lounge or dragshows...i just want a "regular bar" type atmosphere new nice clean thats in a good area. Im open to anything in the Orlando metro area.

I went to that sketchy motel Parliament House, that was gross, and I also went to one of the bars on Orange ave, but it was unimpressive

I've never been able to find anything, so if you come across something please post. Problem is I might not want to leave once I get there. :lmao:

There is always my trusty old back up ESPN zone at the Boardwalk. Though I would prefer a "family" type atmosphere where I can enjoy a game on TV and just hang out.

How long ago did you visit?

The sad news is most of the gay bars in town are in sketchy areas. Even the [relatively] new Stonewall in DownTown Orlando butts up to the Paramore Ave area. Perhaps Bar Codes on Edgewater Drive, but they also have a fenced backyard area where guys cruise for sex (kind of like a "Hanks" lite :rotfl: - Sorry, if you know the area bars you'd get that reference). Don't know if that makes them too sleazy for your tastes.

Anyone else know of any not located on OBT/DownTown/SoDo area of Orlando?

I haven't been to the Gay bars in Orlando since the mid-90's, but from what I remember, the bars I visited based on the recommendation of CM's I had meet earlier in the day at MGM-Studios (as it was known back then) were great, fun places in well populated places...Phoenix I thought was great...Parliament House was in the early stages before it went BIG...then there was another bar I went to that turned into a juice bar after 2am...it was a huge dance club, maybe Paradise...I guess a lot has changed...!!!

I couldn't find what I was looking for either this year. I was going to check out Mr.Sister's but it had some bad reviews so I didn't bother. The bars at the Disney resorts are usually very nice, laid back yet full of life and entertaining. It would be nice to have a LGBT theme bar inside of Downtown Disney Orlando.

When I read this all I could think of was this:

Blue Oyster Bar

I know it's a stereotype but you gotta admit it's funny. :)

Grafitti Junktion in Thornton Park is not exclusively a gay sports bar, but it is a half and half crowd on certain days. Thornton Park has become somewhat of a gay-friendly district and pride flags are flown down the streets. Most other known places have the dark club feel.

I'll be down in WDW in February, and was just wondering what gay bars there are in the area? I'll most likely be on my own, and I've never really explored the "scene" in Orlando. Any suggestions for where to go? avoid? Not worth it to even go out?

It all depends on what you are looking for. For dancing there's always the Parliament House or Revolution. For someplace quieter (ie-empty) there's Wylde's or Bar Codes. Then if you are looking for anonymous...ahem..."activites" there's Hank's.
