Hi All,

Long time Disney World visitor here, but our next trip will be a first with a disabled parent. I am trying to schedule everything for them but am looking for recommendations on a good Orlando area ECV/Scooter company. I'm looking for what TYPE of ECV/Scooter I should look for as well...

Here are some details of what I'm after:

- Reputable company; reliable equipment
- Will deliver and pickup to a WDW resort
- Need a unit that will fit into the room but also last touring a park all day
- Needs to support up to 300lbs
- Need to be able to rent for 10 days
- Anyone know what I should expect price wise? Any companies to avoid?

Thank you for any advice in advance. This is new to me but I want to ensure my parents have an enjoyable trip!

Hi! I'm at Riverside - I rented a Victory 10 scooter from Buena Vista Scooters. They deliver to Bell Services at your resort. They are extremely reliable & a pleasure to deal with!
The Victory 10 has enough power to get you everywhere with no worries about running out of power. The charge goes all day without issues. I read that one charge gives you 15.5 miles.
You will be in the $200 to $300 rental range. Don't quote me on the price - I am not an employee!
Enjoy your vacation!

Before I owned my own ECVs, I would rent from an outside vendor.

Prior to the trip, I would call several vendors, and discuss things like:
1. my size & physical needs
2. my anticipated schedule (so all day every day for me LOL)
3. my preference for 3 wheel or 4 wheel.
4. how "rainproof" their recommended scooter was, and what they expected of me if it rained.

Based on that info, I would discuss with each vendor what scooter *they* recommend. They know their equipment better than anyone; after all, they deal with it all day, every day!

Once I had the quotes from 2 or 3 vendors, I would make my decision. Typically the deciding factor for me would be things like:

- price (of course)
- how they treated me on the phone
- what their stated "rescue" policy was if the unit broke down or the battery failed while I was in the Parks or at the Resort
- what other users had to say about them on the DisBoards (use that search box that lives at the top of *every*single*page* on the DisBoards to find what you are looking for - it works really well!)

And to answer the inevitable, I found Walker to suit my needs best each time. Never had a single problem with them or their equipment, and would happily rent from them if something were to happen to my own personal ECV while at WDW.

I think you will feel more comfortable with the decision you make if you call a couple of companies.

Happy Disney! :)

In the past I used a company (business name, Walker). They provided good equipment and service. They would deliver and pickup at the resort. I have not used them in recent trips, since I was fortunate enough to purchase a used Celebrity X scooter at a great price for my wife to use. The three wheel Celebrity could be disassembled, put in the trunk of our car and transported easily.

Whomever you use, insist on newer equipment. I saw a few scooters that were ready for the junk heap back in our rental days. My recollection is that the theme parks have rentals, both the push style and motorized, but that came at a high price, plus they have to be returned when you leave the park. Mamabunny's post above has a lot of good ideas and recommendations.

Good luck.

I agree on checking a few companies. I've rented with Buena Vista Scooters the past few times and I liked their scooter and service. This past trip I did get a scooter that just sounded terrible (like having a squeaky wheel on your grocery cart). It worked but it was loud and also a bit slow. They were out with a new scooter in 2 hours. I think the one I got was around $30 a day. I added the insurance so it upped the price a bit. Their prices are on their website.
