We have never been to OKW but a friend is thinking of using my points to stay there. We are curious is there are any organized activities at the community hall (it probably has a better name)?? We have stayed at VB where there is a whole list of activites each day. I wouldn't think that OKW would have that many being in WDW but thought I had heard of some. What else is available at OKW for rec? Shuffleboard, tennis,....? any pingpong or air hockey?

Thanks

When you check in you'll get a list of that week's activities (Hank's Happenins). OKW has Ping Pong, football, dart, and basketball tournaments, Goofy Bingo, Pool Parties, sandcastle building, coloring contests, sand art, T-shirt, tote bag, hat, kite, and umbrella decorating, towel animal classes (and lots more). Most are free, some have a minor cost associated with them.

I didn't see air hockey listed, but there may be air hockey tables in the community hall.

There are activitites on-going. I think they vary from day to day. I've seen postings for Un-birthday parties, make & take crafts, Goofy bingo, etc. There is a blackboard outside the door & the weeks activities are posted in the resort info sheet you get at check-in IIRC.

Community hall has checkers, darts, arts & crafts tables, I think I remember foosball & ping pong. Also, free dvd rental for DVC members & computers w/kids games (no internet access).

Our last trip we stayed at SSR but we pool hopped to OKW and checked out their different offerings.

We really enjoy doing recreational activities on vacation and that is normally why we choose SSR. We are thinking of giving OKW a go next trip so we checked it out.

OKW offers shuffleboard, tennis, basketball, ping pong all located by the main pool. The OKW CH offers scheduled activities til about 3:30 each day. I looked at their schedule and they offer umbrella decorating (small parasol) picture frames, and other types of craft activities. They also have electronic darts, computer games (no internet access) air hockey inside CH. Most days will be some sort of tournament like darts, air hockey or foosball. I did see another post about some type of unbirthday party type offering at OKW but I dont remember that being offered while we we there. I will look later and see if I can find the schedule I took for reference.

We just stayed at OKW last week for the first time, and we didn't go to any of the parks (we were in the ORL area for a reunion). Anyway, we spent a lot of time at Conch Flat's Community Hall. They have a pool table (where we taught the kids how to shoot pool), air hocket, darts, two computers for kids, checkers, coloring, board games (you can play there or check out up to two to take back to your room), DVDs to borrow, and foosball. They also have a large screen t.v. where they were showing movies in the late afternoons / evenings. Outside there is pingpong, tennis, shuffleboard, volleyball and basketball that I remember. Of course you can also rent bikes (we rented the 4-person surrey bike), and the pool is good. I like the slide there because you can hop out of the pool right at the entrance to the slide - no walking miles just to go again ;)

just to let you know. i was there in august. i think it was on wednesdays afternoon?? not sure on taht but anyway...they had pool side bingo. and they had what they called good prizes. the cards were a dollars a piece and there were 3 different games. i was with a group of like 10 people. we spent nearly 50 dollars on this game bc they swore that they were good prizes. ya well they weren't. we weren't expecting 50 dollar prizes but something a little better than out dated ugly junk. and thats all it was. we complained and got our money back but i just wanted to warn all. it might be ok to play a game or 2 but don't waste your money in hopes off the "good" prizes. they should hand out 1 card per guest just as a free fun something to do in the afternoon. they just had the old stuff that they couldn't sell so its not like disney was losing money on it. oh and there was 1 winner per game also. so...play at your own risk!
