I have twin 13 year old daughters who eat very little and they are very picky. Can they order from the kids menu at table service restaurants that are not buffet or character meals?

Tell your experiences. TIA.

I have also not run into an issue sharing a meal or ordering from the kids menu (either for myself or for 11 yo or 14 yo).

My youngest has ordered kids' meals up through at least age 16, and we never had any difficulty with that.

As long as you are not on any sort of Dining Plan, you shouldn’t have a problem. We do it all the time! You just don’t get the additional dessert and/or drink, depending on what is usually included for kids.

I was told at Beaches & Cream, they weren’t suppose to allow it, but he would let us (as he looked over his shoulder like he was afraid to get in trouble) and at Tutto Italia, they said no. So I guess it depends on the restaurant.

For the most part you will be fine. SOme restaurants may have a policy in place that forbids it, however we have never been in one yet that does. My niece and my DGD have ordered from the children's menu and have never had an issue.

Thanks for this question, We are doing Ale & Compass for our Candlelight Processional Breakfast and my 12 year old will just want the Mickey Waffles. I only see them on the kids menu. Don't they know that we all love those awesome little waffles?! ;)

I am not sure this will work in the case of a CP meal. Your 12 YO may be able to order off of the children's menu but at an adult price. You see she is a Disney adult in terms of pricing for fixed cost meals. These special packages are not in the same category as most Disney restaurant meals, and so their policies will most likely be different. The CP breakfast is fixed cost and your 12 yo will pay the adult price.

Yeah, we figure that. We are not concerned about the price, my 9 year old will eat enough at the buffet section that will more than make up for it, ha ha. This is just the only opportunity for them to get the Mickey Waffles since we are staying club level and intend to eat breakfast there most mornings.

The waitress at via Napoli wouldn't let my 11 year old order the kids spaghetti. My 8 year old was going to share pizza with the parents. So I said ok and ordered the kids spaghetti for the 8 year old and the 11 year old ate it. We were not on the dining plan. That's the only place that said no to my older child ordering from the kids menu. Many children can not eat the adult portion. For that matter, many adults probably can't finish the adult portion.

That was my other plan, Have my 9 year old order Mickey waffles and my older pick something else that they both split. My oldest definitely does not eat like an adult...he is a very light eater (unless he is going through a growth spurt) my youngest eats like an adult though. lol

My 13 year old daughter was able to order just fine off the kid's menu this June at the Brown Derby. Her kid's meal did include the drink and a little dessert.

I think they only do that to adults. I ordered off the kids menu at 50s prime. We were living in Orlando and did a fun day with my son. I ordered the kids pot roast sandwich and it was just enough but it came with no dessert.

My 12 year old twins ordered off the kids menu frequently. The adult portions are just huge and they never finish it. We never had a problem.

I think that it depends on the server. Last time I was at Be Our Guest for dinner my kids were 12 & 13 and the 13 yr old looked more like he was 10. They both wanted the kids menu and our waitress said that they would not get the included drink or dessert. We were fine with that. At Rose & Crwon, they gave my daughter the drink that comes with the kids meal.
