Ordering Contact Lenses Online

Is there anyplace that doesn't verify your prescription with your doctor? My stupid eye doctor won't give 1800Contacts my prescription so I can't order contacts through them. I don't know if it's because it's been over a year since my last exam or because the doctor's office doesn't want me to buy my contacts from someone other than them. I really need new ones now, but I won't be able to get an appointment with the doctor for weeks. I guess it's my own fault for waiting so long.

By law, your doctor must give you a written prescription for contact lenses whether you order them from him or not. We always order our contacts through the eye doctor but he still gives us a written prescription. I did use 1800Contacts once also.

My guess is that because your prescription is old, they won't give it out.

Online contacts vendors are required by law to verify a valid prescription (ie. less than one year old).

I am pretty sure that if your doctor doesn't respond to 1800contacts within a few days time, it is "presumed" that he aproves the prescription, and they don't follow up any further and just sell you the contacts.

Of course, for this to work, you have to know your prescription has not changed even though it is old.

I was on hold with the 1800Contacts person when she called my doctors office. When she got off the phone with them she told me they refused to give her any information, except that it had been over a year since my last exam. She said she was sorry, but she couldn't put the order through for me.

I placed an order with them and was going to fax the prescription to them(i had a copy) but I put it off about 2 days. I faxed it from work and went home and they were in my mailbox. Obviously, they did not verify the prescription before they shipped them.
