My son will be turning 4 around the time of our Disney trip so I thought it might be fun to have a cake at one of our meals. He is peanut allergic. I was wondering if anyone has any experience ordering a cake to be delivered at either 1900 PF or Chef Mickey's with a peanut allergy.

I believe you can order from Babycakes. Though if peanut is your only allergen I know the kitchen at BOG is suppose to be PN/TN free so that may also be an option?

Call Special diets and ask.

Thanks for the reply. I will definitely give Babycakes a call. I didn't see them listed as peanut free, just vegan, egg-free, wheat-free, and soy-free, so I didn't think to contact them.

As far as BOG, I am guessing that would only work if we had a reservation there? (which we do not)

I will definitely contact Special Diets, but I am also looking for someone who has actually ordered a cake with a peanut allergy. I admit I can be very paranoid about ordering from bakeries since nuts are so common in baked goods.

While babycakes doesn't use nuts, some of their suppliers also process nut products. A lot of pn/tn allergy folks don't like to order from them. They have a disclaimer on their web site that you can check out.

Actually they use Bob's Red Mill which is an issue for people with tree nut allergies but not peanuts.

I don't have food allergies, however, when I received the first email response allergies were asked about. It also only took about 3 emails back & forth determining what I had in mind for a birthday cake.

Once you agree ( and he sent me a picture of the cake proposed since I left it up to their talents ) you then will have to call the Fine Dining line ( so nice & helpful there too ) to confirm the order. You pay for the cake at the time of the dinner. That surprised me very much. We're celebrating at Chef Mickey's .

So I looked up the info on Babycakes and the flour is processed on the same equipment as hazelnut and almond (my son is not allergic to tree nuts). They also use coconut oil which is now classified as a tree nut as well. We typically avoid tree nuts just for the chance of cross contamination, however the description of the cleansing of the equipment I would think the chance of tree nut cc would be extremely low and since he isn't allergic to tn this might be an option.

Thanks for the info about the contemporary and celebrating at chef mickeys. I will definitely send them an email to see if they can accommodate us.

You need to talk to your Dr. about coconut. It is in NO WAY a tree nut and MOST people who are tree nut allergic do not have any issue with coconut. Coconut is actually a palm fruit.

I have a daughter who is highly allergic to peanuts. Not tree nuts, but we usually avoid them out due to cross contamination. I also avoid bakeries with her unless they are nut free. We ordered a cake from baby cakes to be delivered to BOG and she was fine with it. They use Bob's Red mill and will tell you the process they use for cleaning the equipment. I was not comfortable with the Disney cake process, as I don't think the kitchen was fully peanut free. Is Babycakes still open though? I heard they were shutting down. We have Babycakes here in NYC and she has eaten safely many times from them.
