Orchard in December?

We will be at Disney over Christmas and have a few "down" days....Are there any orchards open during that time of year? Being from Illinois, not a clue - lol! Just thought that would be something fun to take the kids to do that we don't have back home.

Citrus season is fall to spring depending on variety, so just find a pick your own place. We've never done this as I'm guessing it's the picking part that's the novelty and I make my kids pick our own from our garden and very small peach and apple orchard. They've never been interested in picking an orange.

Novelty has kind of worn off for them.

We like Showcase of Citrus. It's not too far from the parks, and they'll have plenty of varieties ripe in Dec. You can go out and pick your own, or just shop from the already-picked bins. They have a sort of "monster bus" eco-tour too.

We'll be there for New Year's Eve, and plan a stop there later in the week. Gotta stock up on fresh oranges and kumquats, and their orange blossom honey is wonderful!

Another recommendation for Showcase of Citrus! We have been there a few times and it has become a highlight of our trip! Love it there. Very friendly people. We get the orange slushies and theyre delicious. And they have boiled peanuts!
