I wanted to share an email from Orbitz that I received today, Monday, August 26, 2013 for hotel discounts of 20% and specifically, WDW of 15% plus 20%.

I already have resort reservations, but I input into Orbitz search, Walt Disney World as a location for prices for days in early December and they listed all of the WDW Resort's costs inside WDW and not outside WDW. That is what I wanted to see.

I just like to compare WDW to discounts to Orbitz discounts and their nightly rates.

I noticed that the resort at Disney Pop Century Resorts, and maybe all of them were already 15% discounted by Orbitz.

I compared prices to the Walt Disney World Resort website for prices on the same day and they were $128.00 per night on Saturday, November 30, 2013, and $108.00 on Sunday, December 1, 2013. Both WDW and Orbitz had the same non-discounted costs.

I know that these sounded a bit high from last year. Thank goodness for discounts at WDW.

I have a WDW annual pass and compared the current WDW annual pass 15% discount for the same days, and they were $108.80 per night on Saturday, November 30, 2013, and $91.80 per night on Sunday, December 1, 2013.

Other WDW annual pass discounts were 15% value, 20% moderate, and 30% Deluxe and Villas, if you were interested in those discounts.

I just checked for Disney Pop Century Resort discounts.

Anyway, Orbitz price with the automatic 15% discount shows Saturday= $108.80 and Sunday= $91.80, too. Same as WDW 15% discount.

But Orbitz offered a special extra 20% discount.

Orbitz cost $87.04 per night on Saturday night, November 30, 2013, and $73.44 on Sunday night, December 1, 2013.

A good price.

Orbitz = $87.04 per night on Saturday, November 30, 2013
WDW = $108.80 per night on Saturday, November 30, 2013
Orbitz = $73.44 per night on Sunday night, December 1, 2013
WDW = $91.80 per night on Sunday night, December 1, 2013

I hope that someone can use this discount. It is only good on Orbitz for 3 days from today, August 26, 2013.

Let me know if you used Orbitz with this discount, especially for moderates or Deluxe and even outside WDW.

As a reminder to everyone, I received this Orbitz email, today, August 26, 2013 and it is good for three days for the extra 20% discount. I did not add the 11.5% Pop Century Resort taxes so as not to confuse anyone. I like seeing the nightly rates without all the taxes.

Sincerely, Ray :)

Exclusive: 20% off promo code!
Book in the next 72 hours and get an extra 20% off
our best hotel deals with promo code SPF#20.

Good for travel through March 31st (sic 2014)

I also received the e-mail from Orbitz with this offer. Considering whether I should re-book with them and cancel my reservation made with Disney. All category of resorts appear to be eligible for this promotion. I was able to get price quotes for Pop, CSR , AKL - Jambo and Beach Club for 12/14-12/21. All prices were cheaper than the Disney website.

Thanks for sharing, OP! I was able to get a greater discount for Wilderness Lodge than what Disney is offering for the fall. :goodvibes

Don't forget to look at linking through befrugal or ebates to get some cash back if using the Orbitz offer.

We currently have a split stay reservation linked to befrugal for $30 on each reservation, plus we used the extra 20% off on top of the Disney discounts on the Cheaptickets price. We have POFQ for $121 a night plus tax and then some cash back coming.

Thanks so much Ray.

I had to book my mother a room just for two nights at BWI.

With the code spf#20 I got her two nights S/V with tax for $513.14

This was a few bucks cheaper than the travelocity 10summer code...both are great deals though.

Hi, MouseloverJD. I believe that my Orbitz quote said that I could also cancel up to about 4 or 5 days prior to arrival. I usually book through WDW, too. I just happen to catch this email and I was curious. The Orbitz quote, I believe said that you could also receive all of the same WDW benefits, such as the free airport bus service to and from your WDW resort. Good luck what ever you decide. I would probably keep the WDW reservation if it was only a few dollars.

Hi, kydisneyfans. Thanks for the info. I didn't know about befrugal or ebates. That looks like a standard price that I got at POFQ over a decade ago. Great deal. So, did you use the Orbitz discount on Cheaptickets like a matching prices?

Hi, anita46. You're very welcome. I received so much cool information from the DISboards, that I thought that this three day deal might help someone else. I am glad that this helped you, I hope that you have a great vacation.

I decided to guess when the fall foliage would be good on either side of the Great Smoky Mountains, and I booked 4 nights with the Orbitz 20% off plus another 20% off from the hotel in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

I love driving up toward Cherokee, North Carolina to see all the fall colors.

Sometimes, I'll hang a right turn onto the Blue Ridge Parkway for a beautiful drive.

Then back over the Great Smoky Mountains into Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

After working all night, I'll probably sleep all night and wake up early to take a drive over the Great Smokey Mountain's Cade's Cove for an incredible view drive around.

Maybe Wednesday, spend a day at Dollywood.

It looks like not many folks took advantage of this Orbitz deal.

I am happy for those that did take advantage of it.

Ray :)

Great use of the Orbitz promo, Ray! :thumbsup2 The Smokies are absolutely gorgeous when the trees turn...

Ray, thanks much for the info. I just priced out an early December St. John stay, and can save over $500 with this. Wow! I didn't pull the trigger though...what a wuss. Hopefully, I will by the end of the day.

Thanks for posting! I priced the Polynesian and for nine nights (Nov 13-22) it would be a total of $2,700 which is a fantastic deal compared to the cheapest Polynesian rate I see on the disney site for those dates- $4,349 for a club room. I wonder why the disney site shows no availability in a standard view room but Orbitz does and for so much less.

I think the promotion ends at 2pm CST today.

Where do you see the extra 15% off? I was able to apply the 20% off for the Poly, but I noticed the rates were the same as Disney rack rates.

I just popped back onto Orbitz thinking I would book St. John, but it was non-refundable. 100% charge if canceled. Oh well. No special discount for me.

Check cheaptickets.com. They are owned by orbitz. Their 20% off promo runs till sept 2 for bookings nov to jan I believe. They also have 25% off for next spring. Promo is on their main page currently.

Thanks for the discount code. I was able the same room for the Pop Century and save about $84. Every little bit helps since we'll be staying at the Grand Floridian for the rest of the trip.

Bummer. Neither site (Orbitz or Cheaptickets) has any room availability for our trip in January. Expedia lists no rooms available either. :(

Is it possible that they just haven't opened up availability for those dates yet? Anyone know when they start booking for 2014?

I don't know if I did something wrong, but when I looked it was more expensive than through Disney.

Using the extra 20 percent code, I first checked for Pop Century for Nov. 29 for 8 nights, I only put 2 adults. It showed a savings of around $150 off Disney's Fall offer. Yeah! Then I scrolled down and it had the different room categories (standard, preferred, pool view, etc). Some had "Disney resort benefits" included next to them. The one that was pulled up did not. I want that for the FP+ system, so I changed to that rate. The savings went down to only $7. Then I decided I better go back to the beginning and make the reservation including my two kids (age 7 and 8). The price then jumped up to $100 MORE than through Disney's website.

So...
$926.57 through Disney using the Fall Discount

Through cheaptickets.com with the 20 extra discount
$770.11 for 2 adults
$919.72 for 2 adults, 2 kids in a standard room without Disney Resort Benefits
$1031.32 for 2 adults, 2 kids in a standard room with Disney Resort Benefits

Weird in a couple of ways. I was glad that I kept looking at it before booking.

Thanks! I booked two nights (9/18 and 9/19) at ASMo for a quick solo trip for a total of $184.20 including taxes and fees.

FYI- the "SPF#20" code was on orbitz's front page when I logged in. It expired yesterday at 2pm CST.

Well totally forgot to book by last night and missed the 20% off. Now you can only get 15% off on orbitz & cheaptickets.com. for me it is still cheaper than paying rack rates but I am starting to think staying at a deluxe without a 30% discount (through disney) is not the best idea. But I had my heart set on the poly :(

I already have my resort reservations this year, but I thought that I would compare last weeks costs versus this weeks costs with the addition of WDW Annual Pass discounts.

I was surprised when the WDW Annual Pass came out today and compared it to last week's Orbitz costs. I never realized that Orbitz could beat a WDW discount a week before the WDW Annual Pass Discount came out.

But today, the WDW discount beat Orbitz by $11.80.

I might add that I think that WDW and Orbitz changed their nightly raises from last week, compared to today without any discounts.

I hope I remember this next year about Orbitz.

I also noticed that Orbitz had more availability than WDW on certain days. Some DIS folks think it may be a WDW computer glitch.
