Orbitz and Cancellation - Just Confirming

So I've looked through the other posts and I just want to confirm something. In booking Boardwalk through Orbitz (room only) it says that a $25 fee will be charged at a certain day (I believe it is 5 days out). So I'm assuming this means that I am out no money if I cancel before that date? Am I understanding this correctly? TIA!

I thought they charged $25 for all cancellations. And that before 5 days you can cancel and get the remaining back, but inside 5 days you get nothing back.
But I may not be right either.
I quit using them when they started with the cancellation fee just because the extra hurdles were no longer worth the efforts for the smaller savings. It is harder to get the confirmation number now also.

You need to look at the orbitz site for your potential reservation to see what it says. I've also read that they are creating a cancellation fee no matter what. Start a pretend booking and read through the terms and conditions it pops up before you actually book it.

It's been awhile since i booked a WDW room thru orbitz.

Define harder please. As in orbitz no longer will provide it if you call?

Some resorts they weren't charging for it. Strange, I think it was like Pop, OKW and a couple others.

You didn't have to call at all before. It was right on the confirmation page as soon as you booked. I think it takes a couple of days now and you have to call. But I'm not sure as I no longer use it mostly due to the cancelation fee. That has something to do with how Orbitz buys blocks of rooms from Disney and then resells them

Ok thanks, yes i remember seeing it on the older reservation i had but on the last i had to call.

Didn't catch they imposed a $25 cancellation fee which I'm going to assume is per reservation not per day.

It is, and its Orbitz that is saying this BS, Disney does not charge this.

True. But it's due to Orbitz reselling Disney reservations instead being pass thru. Some TA just book right with Disney for you and they don't charge anything. Others buy wholesale from Disney and then resale and they often do charge a cancelation fee

I've seen maybe one or two WDW resorts that don't have it but most that I've looked at had it. I have used them and did end of cancelling because even with the silly $25 cancellation fee I got a better deal somewhere else (I think it was Swan but don't remember). I knew there was good chance I'd end up cancelling so I factored that in at the very beginning when comparing rates. It is harder now to get the confirmation number but I was able to do it the last time I used them, which was probably in December, by emailing them, it took about 2 days for them to get it to me. I only use them now if it's more than around $300 total difference in what I can get from Disney or Swan/Dolphin.

Didn't this develop when Expedia bought them out?
