We have a new option of flying Allegiant Air out of Springfield Mo to Orlando/ Sanford. Can anyone give me information on the airline or airport? thanks

We are flying Allegiant from Springfield to Orlando Sanford in October. I have never done it but I can tell you what I have learned from other posters. :flower:

First Allegiant is a very good "no frills" airline and everyone that posted who has flown with them were very pleased. :goodvibes

I have also heard that sometimes parking is a problem in Springfield/Branson airport--arrive early. I have never been to this airport--we are from Arkansas and are driving north about 3 hours to get these introductory great rates.

Sanford is out quite a ways from Orlando, however it is a smaller airport. Many say is is very easy to get in and out of and actually prefer Sanford over the International airport b/c of the ease of getting in and out. Even considering the travel time, most say you will arrive at your destination sooner. :moped:

Negitive it appears is transportation to WDW. We are staying off site and are renting a car so it was not a problem for us. The Magical Express doesnt service this airport and most of the transportation services are very expensive for a pick up. :confused3

Are you from the Springfield area? If so we are looking for a cheap motel to stay one night in before our flight leaves. Any suggestions? :earsboy:

The only thing that I can tell you about Allegiant is that they are a charter airline, therefore they don't have the same requirements of a scheduled airline as far as cancellations etc.

The Sanford airport is a nice place to fly into. It's not too big and it is easy to navigate around. Several car rental places are onsite (National, Alamo, Hertz, Avis and I believe Dollar) Budget is off site.

The airport is about an hour from Disney and the best route to take is SR417 (toll) however, for the cheapskate (me for example) I4 is about 8 miles away using Lake Mary Blvd and is tollless (but not trafficless) Shuttles and twoncar service is available but is more expensive than MCO (and no ME) I believe that Allegiant has a deal with USA Coach for shuttle service to the Disney area for about $30-40 Check their website for details (I heard this here, I have not comfirmed it)

I'm not 100% positive, but am reasonably certain that Mears services Sanford airport with buses.

While Allegiant does do a charter business, they are actually certified with the DOT as a "scheduled air carrier" with authority to fly scheduled and charter airline operations throughout the U.C. More information here http://allegiantair.com/about.htm
