Options for Rooms for Extended Family (Cash, Borrowing, Renting?)

IF you can work it so that you can use 3 yrs of points, you'd have enough for fa 2 BR plus a studio for 7 nights for much of the year for the standard view, which will likely not be available for a cash discount. Personally I think that is better than a GV because it gives people space and gives you options in cash someone doesn't come or even if someone else tags along. One thing I've learned is these type of things never work out exactly as planned, people cancel last minute, sometimes people even tag along uninvited.

We looked at the crowd calendars and laid out our 14 nights. There were ten of us, and everyone got to pick one restaurant, even the kiddo's..one breakfast, some lunches, and mostly dinners, whatever worked the best for whichever park. Two dinners we put the four kids in the children's club house and had adult meals at the Yatch Club steakhouse and one at the Calfornia Grille. Rest of the meals we ate in the villa. Tables in wonderland worked well, except for the expensive Star Wars dinner...and Yep, GS has picked Star Wars Breakfast this year. SIGH, $50 for adults, $40 for each kid...I'm doing this one alone with them due to the cost. Hubby will go golfing that morning (such a hardship).

FP+ took a LOT of time...luckily my DD who is a planner like me, was on spring break...and after MUCH discussion and lots of computer time, managed to get everything that everyone wanted...I think those discussions over thanksgiving that year took 15 hours, and booking the 14 days for ten people, not all doing the same rides took Duffy Lover about 8 hours. I'm quite happy that this year over Christmas and looking at the crowd chart we have our rides/shows picked out, and Duffy Lover will be here for spring break when our 60 days arrive and has graciously offered to book the FP+ again for this 9 day trip for the five of us.

We are a family group of 4 adult children, 3 spouses and 13 grandchildren. We have been going as a family every other year since 1999. For the past few trips we have made ressies for a GV and 3 two bedroom villas. I love the GV as a meeting place for large breakfasts and dinners. This year we will try 4 two bedrooms at AKLK. Hopefully we will fit for our family meals. I am fortunate to have many points and can do this but for once in a life time trip I would have everyone at the same resort but in their own space. The WDW trip can be overwhelming. It is good to have room to decompress.
