Did anyone see Oprah yesterday. The show, overall was good, but there was a little clip of a couple doing something called calorie restriction. They appeared to be in their 60s or so. They were both average to above average height, and the man weighed 135, the woman 111. They are doing something called calorie restriction, eating 2 meals of mostly fresh fruit/vegs a day. Dr. Oz said their method may be extreme, but calorie restriction can help you live to 150.
I cannot understand why he didn't blast these folks. They both appeared to be unhealthily underweight.:confused3

There actually is a lot of research that suggests that restricting calories, even by just 10% can dramatically increase your life span and also decrease you risk of a lot of diseases such as heart disease and several cancers. There is even research that shows that if your BMI is 19-24.9, a healthy weight according to the BMI charts, your risk of death from all causes is 120% than if your BMI is less than 19. Now my weight is not even in the "normal" weight, well above it in fact, but the research is there. The only thing that you need to be careful about if you do calorie restriction is that you still need to make sure you get all the nutrients that you need, so no junk food.

wow. i have some oprahs in the DVR....i'll have to check it out.....seems like way more than i could sign up for as a lifestyle that's for sure
