I just renewed Woman's Day, Redbook and Good Housekeeping on Amazon yesterday. I did get WD for $5 for a year and Redbook $10 for 2 years. Good Housekeeping was $15 for 2 years so Hearst must be running a special to increase readership.

Now if only there was a good source to get rid of them! Each magazine only take 30 minutes max to read after you've skipped over the massive ads so then you just have wasted paper. I can't get rid of them (all current in the past 3 months) because no one wants them. I hate to burn them so I take two or three at a time to the dr/hospital at appointments and leave them. They never have anything to read yet they don't want nearly new magazines.
There is just very little info in them and too much advertising but a boost in subscriptions keeps the advertisers happy and purchasing ads.

amazon has a few for $5 a year right now.. I think cosmo and WD... if you go to the gold box and then look under other deals they'll show up there...

I want a deal on Real Simple. Love that magazine but won't pay $23 a year for it.

I don't pay for magazines, unless they're specialty mags. You can get most major ones free if you check freebie sites or sign up for freebiz.

Right now we get Lucky, Field and Stream, Family Fun,Scrapbooking Etc., Elle, Working Mother, More, Better Homes&Gardens, Women's Day, Self. Free.

I have two places I donate them to. One is a laundromat. I was bringing comforters in and noticed all their mags were 3-5 years old. The other is the health department- also with ancient mags. I asked them if they wanted them and they are thrilled! I drop them with the person in charge at those places. I am done with them usually before they're on newsstands so they are happy to have them.

Thanks! I never thought of the laundrymat. Health dept and Sr citizens center don't want them. I know what you mean about being done with them before they hit the stands.

A couple of other places to ask about donating are beauty schools and teacher's lounge. Some school art depts need them to cut up for projects.

I donate mine to the battered women's shelter. I mark off my address and take them to them every couple months. They love them.

My local public library has a used book store run by volunteers. They love getting newish magazines.

They only sell them for a quarter, but it adds up. I buy lots of magazines there at that price....then re-donate them when I'm done if they are not too destroyed. I always keep them in the car for down time when running kids and haul them to the beach, pool, etc.

I bring mine to school with me (after they have been edited...lol) and the students use them for projects.

We have a collection box at work for a group that sends care packages to our soldiers overseas.

Tell me more about getting these FREE!

Kim

SCAM ALERT!! Check your credit cards everyone!!

I JUST did this! Ordered 8 magazines on this list & my bank called to let me know there were 2 suspicious transactions for $550 and $5900 trying to get through!! I did get email order confirmations so this is WEIRD!!! beware everyone!!

One thing I use some of my old magazines for is in my boots. Just roll them up and put one or two in each boot and it keeps them standing up.

Hearst Magazines is a division of Hearst Corporation - a 120 year old company. While it's possible someone somewhere in this poster's order process "acquired" her his CC number, it's much more likely the timing is entirely coincidental. The only (ahem) 'connection' I could Google between Hearst and credit card fraud? Stories in newspapers it publishes.

Hearst is a reputable company. I think they had nothing to do with the attempted fraud.
